Feed him. LOTS. Especially Nori. For the next while make sure you have a good supply of seaweed or Nori for him to eat. Acually you should be feeding it lots of those foods anyways. I feed my Black Tang a fair chunk of Nori every second day.

Remember that Tangs are herbivores.

Good luck. If you can get it past this and keep it healthy they are a beautiful fish.

Mysis and Nori. Lots. That is all I feed. I don't soak but you can with Vitamins or something along those lines.

Well not so much that it pollutes your tank.

The first day:2-16-06

The third day:2-18-06

What do you guys think so be my next step? I am feeding numerous times a day along with seaweed. I am also treating the entire system with Pimafix. Should I keep going this route or try something else?

If you guys think I can stop the medicine, I would love to. It is making me feel sick whenever I am in the room because of the odor, it makes the corals all small, and makes the tank water gross.

Seth,

I haven't used anything to treat a fish in my own tank in years. If you have a Q tank I'd treat the fella in there. But based on my own experiences catching a fish in a reef. The best I can suggest is feed him well and cross your fingers.

I don't like adding chemicals and such to my tank. Always bothered me.

I really hope your fish can make it past this. They are an amazing fish when they are fat n happy.

yes they are. i think i will go one for day with the medicine and then take it out because i just dont like it in my reef tank. he loves brine shrimp so ive been feeding him that along with seaweed. he is becoming fatter by the hour so i think he will be ok but im still worried because hes so pretty and i spent so much money on him. thanks for the advice!!!!

A word of advice. Brine shrimp for the most part aren't that nutritious. Kinda like popcorn. Fish love the taste.. but it doesn't do much for them nutritionally.

If you can. Look for Mysis.

GOOD LUCK!

he has now started to like mysis a little, but still not as much as brine shrimp. i have been feeding many times a day. his stomach is still pinched. he has fought off the fungus but he caught a few spots of ich. what can i feed other than seaweed and mysis to try to fatten him up?

Just for inspiration.

I think lucked out I think. I know how hard it is to get a good shot of something that is solid black. Mine is also very used to see me at the tank watching. So he isn't so skittish.

You might also want to try some garlic juice sprayed on some of the nori you are feeding.
