Yikes! I'm hoping to avoid that in my own stand by keeping the center brace as narrow as possible, but I may have to anyway with a 4ft sump... guess we'll see

Are you buying a factory built stand, or build your own?

On my 125's, one had a perfecto stand, had to knock out the brace, the other had a RJ Knotty Pine stand, it had a 'floor in the bottom of the stand that was actually a couple inches off the floor, I knocked it out, sat it on the floor, put the sump on it, then droped the stand down over the sump.

I'm building my own, so I have a little more control over the parameters. That was a clever solution, though I'd like to have the option of removing the sump without having to drain the display tank.

One thought I had was to leave the back off the stand. That way I could put the sump in diagonally, with part of it sticking out the back, then rotate it once it clears the side.

Well, the diatoms are all but gone.

I added 10 astria snail, 10 blue leg hermit crabs, and 10 nassarius snails.

This time next week, I will be bringing home my acro frags, and will take some pics then.

Well guys, finally have some updates!

Got some of my frags in the tank. As well as my 2 clams I kept from the last system.

Heres an updated full shot.

Notice the big rock that hides the strainers is gone, I took it out to treat for red bugs, as it was the only rock with an acro on it. It will return this weekend
My big Squamosa clam. This guy is huge!

Some zoas, and a monti frag.

If you are talking about the squamosa, no, It was just put in the tank and was 'adjusting'. It sometimes opens real wide like that. It is open a 'normal' amount now.

Got the rest of my acros in the tank. All is looking good.

Tested cal, 400 alk 2. I got some free samples of Oceans Blend 2 part, and started dosing it today. Just need to get the alk up a little.

Trying to get good close ups of the acros, but it is tough with my cheap camera.

Well, it has been running for a month.

Broke down and added 2 fish today. A small purple tang that has been in quarintine for over a month, and my Red Sea Sailfin Tang from my last tank.

Will get pics soon.

Thanks, yes, I have a great job! Just don't make much money.

Well, the tangs are doing well. The sailfin actually beat up the purple a little the first day, but thet are doing fine now. They have been grazing like pigs and have cleared all the lock line of any algae.

Added a few more acro frags as well as two clams, a 4" Gold Tear Drop max and a 3" Derasa that had a nice pattern.

If I can ever get good close up pics with my cheap cam, I'll post.

I have been playing with the alk, and testing it and cal daily, trying to get the alk high, which I finally did.

Got the cal staying at 400-450 and alk at 3.5-4.

I am almost out of the alk part of the 2 part already (from buffering it up) so I will proabably make up some of Randys 2 part this week.

The more I look at the tank, the more I think I am going to have to add a couple actinics.

Started using my homemade 2 Part additive.

Added a Bali Tiger Jawfish, which was living in a pvc tube in quarintine for the last month.

Also, took this vid showing how I set up my return line to be close to the surface, thus creating an occasional venturi, injecting lots of bubble into the tank.

I did this because on the reef there are waves crashing and putting lots of bubbles into the water.

It makes a little noise, which wasn't picked up by my cheap cam, but it is not bad.

You should get some eductors to put on the end of those loc lines to pressurize that flow. As long as your pump is large enough, each one will put out 5 times the pressure and really increase your flow.

The flow is quite strong out of the closed loop now. Sequence dart is pushing it. The enductors are to large imo for this tank, and would detract from the astetics.

Thanks, I really like the big squamosa as well!

Thanks, so far it is going great! Just wish I could get better pics.

So far, growth has been good. Color is good, but I think some actinics will help.

Here are some updated pics,

The tangs are getting along well now,

I have had this coral for a long time, it has grown but never showed color like this! It was a brown discounted coral when I bought it, 3 years ago.

This is a birds nest frag a club member gave to me because it browned out. I got it May 21, 06, it was in quarintine for a couple weeks.

Bali slimer and pink zoas, the acro is a 4th plus generation frag, the zoas are 3rd or 4th,

Assortment,

The flashers are in.

Heres what went in;

Paracheilinus octotaenia
P. filamentosus
P. cyaneus
P. cerpenteri
And what I beleive to be a P. mccoskeri, but only time will tell.

My Jawfish made its way to the sump.

All are doing well. Corals are encrusting the epoxy bases, and showing new growth.

Will try to get better close up pics soon.

So far the Cerpenters is the leader of the wrasse pack.

I will probably add 2 4ft actinics this week.
