Yes it would.

I think I have decided on lights.

Three 250W Reef Optix III HQI's
Sunlight Supply HQI ballasts
250W 20K XM's or 14K Pheonix bulbs

The lady buying my 58 will be by tonight!

My next purchase this week will be wood and drywall. I should have enough to afford that with the money I get from my 58. Hopefully the wall and stand will be built on Saturday so I can start hanging the drywall and getting the room ready for the tank. I am thinking I should have the tank late next week or the first of the following. Once the tank is in I will evaluate the water level with the pumps running and how high the sand bed will be, then I will trim the aquarium with some molding to make it look like a picture frame...its gonna be sweet.

More pictures, less words.

I'll read all this later when I have a bit more time.

I recommend the phoenix's though, I like 'em.

Well its one change after another...lol

Since I was concerned that the Deltec would not be able to handle the size of the tank, I found an MR3 skimmer with pump and collection cup for sale from a guy who is downgrading and wanted a Deltec insump skimmer. We worked it out and I will have the an MR3 Skimmer on the tank instead.

HEY!!! No making fun of me on my own thread!!!

Its not that I change my mind but when I bought the skimmer, my intentions were to use it on the 58 and now that I have upgraded to a 150, that was the only piece of equipment I was concerned with. My reactor is rated for 500g also.

It's Update Time!!!

So I decided to go ahead and build the stand. It is 46" tall and you will notice that it isn't 60" long... I talked with the tank builder and we upgraded it to a 180!!! lol

Here are the pics. I ain't done with braces yet, ran out of wood.

Let me know what you think.

Mike

Lookin good! Over-engineer that stand though, you'll sleep better at night. And put a thick THICK coat of semi-gloss paint on it to seal out the salt water which WILL occur.

Glad your going 180!

Will definitely coat it with a white paint like you suggest! I actually had forgotten that its going on concrete so I bought some 1x4 PT wood to put on the bottom. Once the PT bottom is on, the 1/2" plywood and the foam, I should be right at 48" tall.

My last 180 just about took me out of the hobby for good. Lets see how this one goes.

Ya I would imagine I would be pretty discouraged after a 180 crash too! Good to know you stayed in it! I wish you the best on this one!

Sure. It was a 180 RR AGA tank with the following equipment:

My Reef Creations MR2 Skimmer fed by Blueline pump
My Reef Creations CR3 Calcium Reactor
3618 Sump (can't remember the make)
Blueline 100 Return pump
Tunze Dual 6100's
6' Maristar with triple 250w HQI 14K's and 4x39w T5 Actinics

It was a nice set-up. I went on vacation for 4 days to Louisianna and I felt like something was wrong the whole time. I didn't leave anyone in charge, I just made sure I had enough water in my top off and left.

4 days later I returned at about 4 in the morning and noticed my halides were on. I shut them off and went to bed. I woke up at about 12 because I had been driving all night and when I went to look at the tank, there was about 3 gallons of skimmate on the floor. The lights got stuck on the first day and killed all of my corals but I guess that 8 hrs I was sleeping everything went nuts...including my skimmer. Well after cleaning up my skimmer and the mess. I found most of my corals completely bleached out! Within like 24 hrs everything was dying. I immediately had a bunch of locals come and buy everything.

Argh... That sucks. Having a fish tank makes travelling so much more difficult. Fortunately, my roomate is as into fish as I am.
