That is some good info. I might need to try doing that myself. Thanks for sharing.

On a diffrent note we had Aquarium Water test our water., here are the results
Silica (Sio2-3)
Tested: 0.9 mg/L
(HIGH)
Potassium (K)
Tested: 222 mg/L
(LOW)
Molybdenum (Mo)
Tested: 0.2 mg/L
(HIGH)
Alkalinity (meq/L)
Tested: 2.39 meq/L
(LOW)
Sandy
I also sent a sample to the same company and mine came back with the same comments about Molybdenum, Potassium, Silica, Alkalinity, and Calcium. The Alkalinity and Calcium concerned me so I tested with an API kit and get 440 for Calcium and 4.3 for Alkalinity (they got 321 and 2.49). I emailed a couple of fellow reefers and was told that this company almost always shows these particular results as high or low.
Here's a link to one thread http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...ght=awt+boomer
And another one http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...+water+testing
Seems as if a lot of people have the same problem with this company. I wish I had known before forking out $40.

Alan a good test would be to buy a new calcium test kit and compare with your current kit. Good info I was thinking about sending my water there too.

Well I have had a lot of different opinions on this water testing company..
We replaced every RO/DI filter and we just completed a water change out and I will send another sample and see what they have to say this time.
wish me luck

You may want to check on RC what company people recommend as this particular company has a lot of detractors.

Ed and Sandy I hope I'm half as successful as you when I finally bring my tank online. I don't know if I'm a procrastinator, overly cautious, or just plain afraid to fail. I've set a goal for myself to be up and running by the end of the year, working slowly and planning to the max. You've given me great ideas and I'll continue to follow along.

I wouldn't call your self a procranstinator. It tooks us months and months of planning before we broke ground. If you hang out in this section, there are alot of great tank set ups and even better people to help guide you along the way.
Good luck!

I would say it's great to have goals, but do not beat yourself up if you miss them... I've missed my "HARD DEADLINES" 3 times thus far... so now I just stop... I have targets I want to meet, but if they come and go I remember it's a hobby and therefore is second place to life some times....

My build-thread is possibly going to win for one of the all-time-slowest builds ever, but I'm happy enough and looking at others tanks, like Ed & Sandy's keeps me entertained between projects.

I'm always looking forward to seeing more great builds, i'll keep an eye out for yours.

Measure twice, cut once.
Patience is a really great thing to have in this hobby!!
It is so easy to get inspired/excited and rush out and start building

Amazing colors Sandy. What camera are you using? I have a Canon PowerShot and cannot get any good results.

Hadn't "stopped by" for a while... WOW, tank is really looking great you guys!

As others have hinted towards, take those test results with a grain, wait... make that a box of salt Interested to see what the next round of results comes back as...

Thanks for stopping by!

As far as the water testing goes, we had AWT test our water 2 times and we received the same results needless to say, we stopped using them.

I did just break out the sazall just the other day for some critical overflow modification to one of the "next generation" of holding tanks.

Still no 375 set up yet though. The great thing about owning your own buisness, is that there is no one to tell you you CAN"T have a giant box'o saltwater in your office. The worst thing about owning your own buisness is when you realize, it's just not the right time to rip out a wall and set up a giant box'o salt water in your office.

... Baby steps!
