Hi guys! The wife just allowed the purchase of a 220 gallon tank so I'm in the process of looking for a tank. Excited about this site.

Hello Everyone

Hi, name Eddie. New to the hobby. Started three months ago.

Tank: 20g
Powerhead: Aquaclear 20 x 2
Filter: Marineland 200 BioWheel
Heater: Marineland 100w
Lighting: 42 Bright White and Blue LEDs
Live rock and sands
1 bubble Anemone
2 hermit crabs
1 emerald green crab

I recently lost two perculas to marine ich, four days after buying the fish. Having a hard time keeping fish alive, not sure what to do anymore. Water parameters are fine, but still having issue. I have heard great comments about The Reef Central. Looking forward to getting some good information.

Thank You,

New to the board and new to saltwater reef hobby.

I have had fresh and brackish water tanks in the past. Now it's time for the real deal.

Currently, I am building a 60gallon TruVu Cube with reef and fish.

Hey all, reef newbie here. I've been keeping fish (mostly FW but did have a FOWLR tank for a while) for about 20 years at this point. I was given a complete 60 gallon reef setup that has been running for 5 years. I have a general idea of what I'm doing, but always looking to learn from others. Here's my reef tank...

I'm Shawn from Minnesota. Been doing fresh water for 20+ years and just started SW. I've got a 36 gallon bow front my wife and I started in mid February. Looking to turn it into a reef, we hope.

Hi! I am new to saltwater

I am Ryan from Ontario. I have been keeping freshwater fish for most of my life, but I recently decided to give saltwater a go. I have a 90 gal tank with 40lbs of live sand, 40lbs of rock and a Squirrelfish. I hope to make this into a Caribbean reef one day (or as close to it as possible). The tank has been set up and running now for about 3 months, so far no major issues (fingers crossed).

water changes

Hello

Names adventure, Bobby adventure

I am new to thisHobby and communicating through a forum
my question is about water changes I have a 26 gallon soon to be reef tank...I have a 26 gallontank with 22 pounds of live rock, a marine land C 220 filter,a CPR backpack skimmer, as well as a CPR backpack refugium all three are rated for 55 gallonsI want to know if there's a formula to figure out how much and how often water changes should be done, or if anybody has a similar setup how do they approach water changes I also have 2 clownfish to mushroom corals.

any insight would be greatly appreciated thank you. hoping for lots of new friends and good detailed discussions

Here we go...

Hey all! I've been in the hobby for the past 5 years or so and am finally settled in one spot so I can start a reef again. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions along the way and appreciate any and all assistance (just be nice...I'm a noob!). I have a few pics posted of my current 30 gallon set up. It's about 7 months old and just got it's first fish 2 days ago. Let me know what you think!

I have had many freshwater tanks over 20 years and best tanks were Malawi Africans, but due to being in the military we have to move every 3 years, so marine was not worth the effort. Now I have decided to retire from the Navy and don't plan to move soon I bought a used 90gal tank with many nice corals, and a nice variety of fish. The tank has been up and running for 1month and today I "personalized" it. I got rid of the 3 large (too big) main fish-Harlequin Tusk, Niger Trigger and Sailfin Tang and got some smaller fish. I have already been bitten by the bug and am looking forward to reading posts on how to improve my tanks ease of operation.
sorry for being long winded

Hello everyone . Glad to be back. Trying to decide if I should start a bio cube or a 30 gallon tank. Have trouble with big water changes due to health reasons.

Hi everyone,

My name is Ted, I'm from the UK, new to the hobby and I'm in the process of cycling a 136 litre tank with live rock. I thought I'd join the forum here because it's never a bad idea to get advice from people who have trodden these paths before.

Looking forward to meeting people and talking about all things salty!

Hello to everyone. I've been reading threads on Reef Central for about a year and a half to help me through my first salt water tank. I guess it's about time I join. I currently have a 60 gallon Display tank with a 30 gallon sump. About 6 months ago, I started introducing some corals to my tank and am now looking to upgrade to a 150. I'm sure I'll have many questions as I make the change.

Hi Reefer's I'm Lyn. Been keeping fresh water & tropical forever. Been into salt for approx. two years. Went over board with the interest, cost me a packet and learning curve. Now down sizing to Nano 70ltr tank as I can't part with the beauty of these tanks.

Hello !!!

Great to see there is a website as useful and informational as this, which is why I joined it.

I am fairly new to the SW hobby and I definetly want to learn ALOT if not all i need to know about this hobby as I plan to have bigger tanks once I get the hang of it.

Tank: 24g Current USA biocube
Livestock: 1 Madagascar Clown (2")
Clean Up Crew : Nassarius snail, Cerith snail, Hermit crabs, Peppermint shrimp, Cleaner shrimp
Coral: 1 large GSP colony, 3 Zoa frags, 1 Green candy cane, 2 mushrooms
Equipment: 2 Hydor koralia 425's, Marineland 3 in 1 pump, Heater, Marineland 18-24 LEDs,

I also have a 6g Nanocube that I plan to use strictly for frags and refugium.

Nice to meet you all and hope to meet other locals in Socal.
