The "Coral Crusher" hasn't fallen down as expected, and the fish have been swimming around it for days. I think they'd like it out of there already. I'm awaiting a reply from a club member before I catch Tucker, because I don't have anywhere to hold him long.
The Hydnophora seems to be 100% fine, and the GSP on two sides seems to have withdrawn. There is still a patch to the left that seems unphased, but it should be interesting to see what happens in the coming week or so. |

I think we need some pics of this so called 'trap.' I for one uphold that there is no trap known to man that can hold Tucker!

Pictures will be forthcoming.
Tonight, Evan came over and helped me out with a bunch of coral work. He cleaned up a bunch of pieces that came with nuisance algae. Then I decided to pull a few huge pieces out, and rip off red mushrooms. Evan took my Dremel and a sanding wheel and sanded off some neon green star polyps, so they won't return to that part of my rockwork. Next corals were rearranged and the aquascaping looks better now. Hopefully. ![]() |

Tucker has been evicted.
![]() Because this is such a monumental event, I video-taped the trapping for you. It is recorded in real time, so you can experience it as I did. This is a 69 meg video, and totally worth your time. As always, the best option is to Right Click & Save As to your harddrive. www.melevsreef.com/video/tuckertrapper2.wmv I'll add more pictures of the trap itself later. Evan gets the credit for building the Coral Crusher, as well as the editing process of this video. Now that Tucker is out of the tank, I'm sure my zoos are breathing a sigh of relief. I'm thinking maybe I should go buy five tiny hippo tangs to school around in the reef. ![]() |

Bandwidth isn't a problem for my site any longer. About a year ago, I upgraded my plan to 250gigs per month, and my site averages about 3gigs a day. You guys have plenty of space to download this movie.
I'm glad you liked it, and I know Evan will be happy to see that his handywork impressed you. |

If you have a computer that can't open this video (as it uses Windows Media Player), Evan made an alternate video in .mpg format and put it on Reefcast on the downloads page. While you're there, go ahead and grab Episode 9, because it is done!

Yay! It took me all day to make, but I'm glad someone likes the video :P
P.S. I just copied Marc's old trap from memory with some slight modifications. Someone borrowed his old trap in DFWMAS and Marc hasn't seen it in a while so I decided I was sick of hearing Marc complain about Tucker and made him a new and improved trap at 3 AM a few days back. So Marc really gets the credit for the trap.

That was Marc's choice because I couldn't think of one at first. On the DFWMAS boards people were trashing his music from an old video so I think he was just making up with good music

Hehe I like the Star Wars Prologue. Nice job editing that video Evan.
A little confused about how that door works though. Was it attached to a string or something? I didn't see one though so I'm not sure. Or was it hollow and full of air but with an opening for water on the top, so when you slammed it down it filled with water?

Steve - I just got a call two days ago that my saw blades are ready to be picked up. I had them sharpened, so I could do the woodwork.
![]() migston - The door is made of two pieces of acrylic glued together, so it would be heavy. The trap itself was placed in the tank first, then the door was inserted through the gap at the top. Attached to the door is fishing line, and Evan waited across the room in the hallway. I hit the record button on the camera, and sat down on the sofa to watch the fish enter and exit. Evan waited. Finally Tucker did swim in fully, and that is when Evan could give the line a little slack so the door would drop. We waited for Spock to back out, and that was that. A small blue chromis was trapped as well, which was cute because the other three were right next to it on the other side of the door. The door was raised just enough for the little guy to zip out, and then the trap was removed with Tucker in it. Randy - I really never wanted chromis in my tank, but now that I've seen them in there, I really like 'em. Originally I had six, but only four now (for the past week) for some reason. gman0526M - Evan will love to hear that. Specific feedback keeps him motivated. ![]() Glad you liked it, guys. |

I will try and write up a description of exactly how the trap was made and everything. Marc took a bunch of pictures for me last night and I will include them. This way you guys can make one to remove problem fish.
