Technically you could get away with three, but with your bracing, the 30 inch width and the fact that you will go all sps, I would go with four.

Forgot to mention, I'd also hang the four mitras perpendicular to the tank..

You definitely need four with that depth and height, imo.

I really need some help here
Have been re testing this unit over an ELOS 30 x 24 x20 for over a month The test SPS pieces have not responded well They have browned out, nothing dead just mo colour. Its as if there is not enough PAR which I know sounds weird because I cooked the first batch The tank is dim, for sure, it maxs out in the mid afternoon to what to me almost is a 6pm actinic type of look I am using Rodneri's program and have tried my own. I feel stupid as I just cannot get the software to work for me, it will not go over 60% Obviously I am doing something wrong but am really frustrated If someone wants to build me a program I love to see it 9am to 12pm 14k 12-4 lots of blue 18-20k 4-7 more blue 7pm to 9am moon lights

do you have a 6100 or 6200?
not going over 60% indicates you are trying to adjust the illumination channels and not using the light composer.

Fairly sure it is the 6100, it is over 6 months old
I go into the light composer and make my changes. I have it on high power and have set to 75-85% but when I upload it maxes to approx 50-60%

Too late now, I guess, but I got around Light Composer weirdnesses by simply not using it. I set all channel profiles individually.

Setting the channels does nothing they cant be stored so what ever you are doing is just defaulting back, the composer is the only way and the right way. simple steps 1. set your on time e.g 12am 2. now set your brightness (hint always set the first point of the day to 0% as you need a start point) 3. on the right side choose a default spectrum and click the arrow pointing left to move that spectrum across to your template) 4. click on the little tab at the top for displaying your current setting 5. play with the spectrum and brightness live to adjust to your liking 6. click on the lower tab for uploading this project to the lamp 7. when it says save press save repeat the above for your next schedule i.e 5pm 14k 50% If the lamp is not showing the same % as you set it as this is because it is likely in the middle of that dimming cycle.

Do this Michael - don't blow it off to get some reply out about the right way to do things - don't even reply until you've actually, physically done this to understand what we're talking about: Make some really obvious adjustments through the UI panel that's on Mitras. Something like setting the Royal Blue to 0% for all times. It's klunky, but doable. Do not jack your computer into the light at all. Make the changes through the light's panel alone. Maybe I'm the only guy on the planet that uses that panel, but I do use it at times. Save your updated settings when it asks you to do so. What have you got now? What the light *does* no longer matches your Light Composer file. Since you seem to think the settings will somehow "default back" to a file on your computer that's not even plugged in, cycle power to the light. Note the changes persisted; the Royal Blues are still always 0% even though they're whatever% in your LC file. That file on your computer is irrelevant to what the light is actually doing. Wouldn't it be kind of nice to see what's in the light's memory that you changed, since that's what the light is actually doing? Well, you're out of luck with Light Composer. You can, however, import that memory into Control Center's individual channel views and see (and change) it that way. Try it: jack your computer in now, fire up CC and click on the Royal Blue channel. Don't load any LC file or anything, just click on the Royal Blue channel view. Note it shows the changes you made on Mitras' touch panel: 0% for all times. Also note there is no way to get that change into Light Composer. Further, you can make changes to the Royal Blue channel in CC and store them on Mitras, no LC needed. So here's what I do when using Control Center: Click on a channel to input what's currently in Mitras' flash Adjust as desired Save back to flash Sure, I'd like to be able to save those settings to my computer so I could load them on other units, share or whatnot. Or better, get them into Light Composer, but I can't. So until (apparently not scheduled to be done) I can upload Mitras' flash state into Control Center and save it, I'll keep doing what I do, fetching the info each time out of Mitras' memory because it is, after all, the ultimate source for what the light does. |

Please follow the video guide, you are getting frustrated by trying to do things in a way not designed, no you cannot save to your pc settings you do on the unit directly only through the software.
http://youtu.be/-7txuIXMdB4 Of course you can save you project providing you have made it in light composer. Just click save and a box comes up asking you where to save it if not already addressed as saved before.

Michael, I have nothing further to say until you do what I outlined. You don't currently understand what we're talking about.

Honestly i have not had time yet to digest your post, first we would like to address the few people who need support with the software which is how the lamp was designed to be used. The front panel is a very complicated way of setting up your lamp and not really required at all. The new mitras linear will not even have a control panel. I have not even attempted to try and set the lamp up using the onboard control panel as the software is far superior and easier.
Lets get you going as intended through the software if you need phone support we can arrange that. But the video is a great learning point for all. http://youtu.be/-7txuIXMdB4

Biodegraded - I have now had time to read through your post, firstly I have no clue what thread you are talking about being closed I do not have the power to get any thread closed. Moving on to your subject matter. NO the light composer file will NOT match the setting you made manually through the external interface as they were made - manually, the lamp does not send stored setting back to the software from the flash, only the other way round. This is because the lamp has been designed for software use. And yes the lamp will default back to the file settings on the software because your project is separate to your manual settings you just made, there is no connection between the two. The flash is a one way street it only accepts commands from which ever mode you choose, it will not send them out to the software on command. So if you play with the settings manually, no you will not see these changes in the software. This is of little consequence as the lamp was not designed to be used this way. Yes you can set up a basic schedule there although not easily as you have to adjust every set point and channel individually and yes you then save it back to flash, but this is neither easy, for the beginner or gives you any extra benefit. As I said the lamp is designed to be used around the software and as mentioned before the new Linear will not even have a front panel. However if you want to use it the way you have chosen of course we can help you but not on this thread sadly as it is not for technical support to that level. You can email me or post on the support forum at www.profiluxsupport.com GHL are always open to improvement suggestions so if you feel you have a valid improvement worth considering please feel free to post it on the wish list sub forum. I am sure GHL will take note as always with all good suggestions. I cant really get into the technicalities here of setting the lamp up from the front panel as it would take many posts on here and is such a very little used option for control, but as said of course we are happy to support any questions you may have externally from this thread. I hope the software overview i took the time to do today for everyone is of great benefit for those new to mitras or others looking at Mitras and want to get an insight into how easy it is to utilize the suite and get your lamp up and running. We will also be offering phone support for new users who are stuck providing they are in front of the lamp and connected to the software, we will then do a walk through. Details of this service will follow in August as i am away for most of this month.
