Lol.. Well, the setup is only about 2 weeks old and the snails and my lawnmower Blenny work hard at keeping algae under control. At 9 days, spots of coralline started to appear on the PCV. I'm hoping it will eventually be so encrusted that it will blend in.

Another tank shot of my 40 gallon breeder lit by a single Kessil A160WE about 8" over the water. About 75% intensity and just about 1/3 above full actinic...

What kessil light would be best for a 45 jbj rl? Dimensions are 26.5" x 21" x 19". I would like to have a few easy sps later on. But I mostly will have lps and some softies. The scape is just one big island in the center of the tank.
Thanks |

I made a post on this thread awhile ago when I was looking for lighting suggestions. I am happy to report that my Kessil is out for delivery today. I opted for the a160we, simply because this model was listed with the goose neck and controller on the forums. The seller had very few bites and I basically ended up paying for the light and half of the goose neck and got the controller for free. I'll find out tonight if the 160 will work with my foot print, if I feel like I need more light I'll grab a 360.
Worst case scenario if I get a 360 for the cube I have a perfectly good reason to start a small frag tank with the 160! |

took advantage of the premium aquatics 4th of July sale and changed my lighting to a Kessil 360 w e, with the special controller.
Previously had a 400w 20K Radium on a dome multifacet reflector. Tank is currently a 110 Xtra tall with rock work all the way up the back. Was focused on more SPS in the past and tank just never really took off, just always looked "ok". But I have done well with RBTA and will be narrowing my focus to a Clown pair / BTA tank, hopefully moving up to a 30" cube soon. Do more with less is what Im aiming for. The Kessil 360 w e is definitely not as bright as my 400W Radium but that was also likely more light than I needed then, and certainly more than I need going forward for BTAs. I like being able to shift the colors and intensity, and am really stoked about the shimmer Im getting. I love it. So far the anemones do too. I am running it to 100% intensity during midday. Kessil isnt heating the tank up (or the house) like the MH so I am looking forward to the decreased energy bills. The single light on the 110XH (48x18 footprint) for sure creates some shadows and some darkplaces on the sides, but it also gives me kind of that "gallery art" effect on the subject matter, and helps hide things like pumps and overflows which are in the upper corners. I think itll be great on the 30" cube for lighting up BTAs, based on what Im seeing so far and the effect Im looking to achieve (gallery art style focus on the subject matter, with lots of white space (open water) on the outsides). The A160WE is truly an amazing light. Another great choice is the Kessil AP700 when that is released.

Kessil A160WE on my Marineland 27 gallon cube. I already feel like I'll either need another 160 or a 360. The 90 degree adapter may also work. Regardless this thing is bright and I won't jump to any conclusions until I have my water and rock in the tank.

Here's my Solana 67xl with 3 Kessel A360WE's and 4 stunner strips in an acrylic/aluminum fixture.

I'm in the process of switching to Kessils on my 125g, 72x18x22 Mixed Reef. It had 2x250w radiums and 24x Cree Royal Blue LEDs for Actinics.
I just got 4 of the a150w 15k and have replaced the MHs with them, Left the Royal Blues on also. Coverage seems to be fine with the kessils at 8" above water but I am wondering if I might need to get 2 more (while I can) for a little added par? Any thoughts? |

I use a bluefish controller (which is awesome). I have them set to mimic Nausori, Fiji. Here is my light graph and location setting. The graph descriptions that are cut off are: light blue line: white stunner, grey line: Left Kessel Intensity, pink line: Left Kessel Color. I have the left Kessel 360 and a 160 (over a mantis shrimp tank) on one channel, center Kessel and right Kessel 360's on another channel and all 4 stunners on a 3rd channel.

Thanks.
Does anyone know if the Kessil power cable (DC line between pendent and power supply) is a standard type of cable? I'm hoping to run the power through my Solana's old MH power cable conduit (disco ball armature), but if the Kessil cable is too beefy I might need a slimmer make...
