Hey guys,
I added extra 4 LED bars to the extra slots in the hood of my bio cube. Only thing is, I realized that the switch for blue led must be on in order to have the extra 4 white leds that I put extra on which is waste since I only want the blue led on at night. Anyone else come across this?

Can't you rewire which switches do which, and combine them appropriately?

I'm not familiar with the switches, I just remember there being lots of terminals that you could use for different things. I'm surprised that you had to use one switch for all LEDs.

Can you provide a link for the directions you followed for the install, or provide pictures of the wiring?

If I remember correctly, the nightlight LED's(the ones between the T5's) are on one switch, actinics are one, white one, and the 4 other slots are one another. There are 4 switches, I never added any other strips and had a switch that was never used.

Did you ramp up the dosing, and how much and how frequently are you dosing? I used to dose on my 120g, but I had a massive efficient skimmer then. Big difference in size though.

Thanks!

Ya I'm sure you've got this down by now about 7 months late lol. I did a slow ramp and at most I was dosing 1ml per day. I've backed it down to 0.5ml a day now.

Also fwiw, I've been able to fit the cpr aquatics mini tumbler reactor in the middle chamber with the Intank media basket. It was a tight fit. Wasn't sure if anyone already did that but figured I'd share just in case.

Is anyone interested in the stock biocube light setup? I've gutted mine for an ai. I have the stock lights, white/blue and the led strips that came with it.
I also have a innovative marine manga fuge led that I need to get rid of

Skimmer in Chamber 1

I've been searching online for about 4 hours, so my apologies if I'm asking a question with an obvious answer.

I'm trying to put my Hydor Slim Skim in chamber 1. However, there's some silicone'd-in plastic 1/2 wall on the back and on the right. Additionally, it's got some slider thing that I'm guessing some kind of water deflector used to go in.

Can someone please help me find a tutorial for getting the SlimSkim to fit in Chamber 1? I'd really appreciate it!

I thought I would join the discussion here. I have a new Biocube 14 that I just set up and it is still cycling.

The equipment I have decided on is
Kessil A360We
Kessil Spectral Controller
Tunze Nano ATO
Corallife Nano Skimmer (will be upgrading soon)
InTank Media basket ( Purigen, Chemiclean, Filter Floss )
Maxi Jet 900 Pump upgrade
Hydor Koralia Nano Power Head
Eheim Jager 75 watt Heater
Hawaiian Black Sand

I got her cleaned up a bit, re did the rock some. Cycle is going well. Dosing pure ammonia. I used SeaChem Seed for the first time. I have never been a believer in bottle bacteria, and I am not putting much stock in this one either. I am following the directions on the bottle, we will see how quick the cycle happens.

Figured I would jump on board here.... I got one of them new fancy biocube 16 LED things on my dresser. Less than 2 months old right now but it's doing well.

2 Weeks after water went in added;
Yellow watchman goby (not pictured below)
Tiger pistol shrimp
Ocellaris clown
3 blue leg hermits
2 mexican turbo snails

2 weeks later;
Fire Shrimp
Peppermint Shrimp
2 more blue leg hermits (5 total)

In between the next two week gap I lost a very large presumably very old mexican turbo, replaced with 6 margarita snails because I'm a grown man and I do what I want (and because I don't want to scrape that often).

2 weeks later;
Green star polyp in the dead center on the back wall was added along with a small patch of zoa's, button polyps, maze brain, and favia brain.

Within the last 2-3 weeks I have added a female watchman goby pictured below (the male/female are bonded and live with the pistol just fine), as well as a rasta leather finger, xenias, additional green star polyps on the left back wall (going for a full back wall of star polyps if thats not obvious) and a metallic green torch.

Here it is as of last night just shy of or maybe slightly past the 2 month mark now... I think...

I have the new biocube 16. For some reason I am getting constant micro bubbles. I have no skimmer. Anyone else deal with this?

might be from excessive splashing from the back chambers? what do you have in the back? my water drops from chamber 1 to 2 through a sock holder I made. Water dropping into the back like that could cause some bubbles.

Adding a BRS reactor?

I want to add a brs reactor to my biocube29 and it is already pretty full in the back.
Currently I have my temp/ph probes in chamber 1, sock holder and tunze 9001 skimmer in chamber 2 and my ato top off and return pump in chamber 3.
Could I make a rack or shelf and stack the pumps in chamber 3?Does anybody else run one? How do you have the rear chambers set up?

Also takes a while for the tank to "break in" and the microbubbles to go away. I know they're distracting when your tank is empty, but with time, they'll go away, and you won't even notice them because you'll be busy enjoying what is living in the tank.

People still building biocube's? Been awhile since thread was commented on. Well I need a little help.

I got a used biocube 14 and had a few questions.
Was wondering who makes alighting kit for this tank?

I seen steve led from a thread from a few years ago and wondering if anybody else makes a plug and play kit.

Also on steve led it asks, if I have oceanic or coral life bio cube. How can I tell. Mine doesn't say oceanic or coral life on it?

Are the coral life brand skimmers good enough for this tank?

Is a mp 10 too much for this tank?

Thanks -Brian.

RapidLED has some retrofit kits but it requires a little modification to your hood (Cutting some existing posts so it can fit in).

If staying in the canopy you are pretty limited to Steved LED or RapidLED. Both are direct fits and depending on the kit you get require no mods. IE the aurora puck kit from Rapid requires no cutting or anything. I have a thread in their forum and you can see in my older build thread the install process.

There are numerous ways but perhaps the easiest is to look at the overflow and if it has slots at the bottom as well as the top. If it is top only it is an oceanic. If at bottom and top it is coralife. Other differences as well but those are the easiest to see and tell others to look for.

Short answer no. Limewood airstone skimmers work but can be a pain to deal with and the constant need to swap out the airstones detracts from them. You got a 14 gallon so really shouldnt need a skimmer. If you want to run one look into the aquaticlife 115.

Its not too much but you will be dialed down significantly. mind you in my BC29 I had a gyre 130 running in it. Your lifestock selections will determine how much flow you really need.
