Hoping to have some birds nest and maybe one day acro on the top of the reef.
Sorry the link is not showing the light in question.

I just got a 60" Aurora. I programmed with my Mac and the Futura software. Purchased a dirty cheap android device and I can not get it to connect inside the app. I see the app has a 1* rating on google play, probably because it does not work. Anyone have any experience to help me?

At most the reflectors and ballasts are kept cool by this mechanism.

There is potentially a way to force the air to move over the bulbs by blocking air the direct flow of air between the fans with foam strips. Would need to use that orange heat resistant silicone foam to do this and that matterial is pretty expensive.
Well, if we look at the fixture and fans in/out function and as the fixture is well sealed with splash guard this will make like a "vacuum" effect behind the reflector but also where the tubes are located.

Maybe also changing the fans could help on the cooling. Actually the Giesemann use Sunon MagLev MB60101V3-000U-A99 cooling fan with following specs

Any news on the Genesis?

Have decided on this fixture, but am waiting on the Genesis for comparison to the Aurora, especially cost.
For my 8 foot 300g, I am interested in the 72" unit with the 5 cluster LEDs and 4 bulb T5.
Best coverage compared to the 60" w/4 LED clusters.

Perhaps the Aurora will go on sale once the Genesis makes its appearance.

Sense the air flow will always take the path of least resistance, I dont see how it would pass over the bulbs. If you added a seal to create a wall separating the in and out fans that would force the air to flow over the bulbs instead.

I was told that the Genesis will be more competitively priced - like the VerVve is...

Anyone know if that is true?

Hi guys, seriously considering the Aurora 60" for my new 180G... Not very much info about it, and I'm reading that these may not hold up... anyone have one in any size, how are they? Durable? Works well?

Look up Broadfield and his tank. He had the Aurora and liked it. Now he's using the MH/T5 fixture

I don't remember the exact reasons. On his clay-boa thread he talks about it

I follow his thread, and he wanted to try MH. He was telling me in only two weeks after the switch he was already seeing colors improve.

I have also read other users get better results when switched from ATI'S hybrid to a regular sunpower T5 unit. The Spectra MH/T5 seems like an amazing fixture, but way too much heat

I would wait until you see the Genesis. I saw it in person at Reefapalooza last year and was dissapointed with the light put out.
The fixture's outside look also didnt look sharp at all compared to what we see with the Spectra, Infinity.

Gregg Carroll can maybe pitch in his opinion, as he saw it there as well? Coralvue had told me it was then a prototype, but that there would be no known changes to the final version.
They had the black 48" version I believe, and I placed it over the table checking the light put out and found it to be a bit lacking... the aurora on the other hand looked amazing over an Elos tank at Manhattan Aquariums. The white Aurora is a beautiful light to say the least...
I took pics of the Genesis, am looking for it...

I got the 60" Aurora and have only had it running for a few weeks. I have to use the old app to program it as the aurora one does not work. I talked to the service guy that sold me on the fixture as he maintains 3 of them for clients. I bought it off Bulk Reef Supply and it does not come with bulbs. The 60" fixture uses 240V ballast and it comes with a transformer. The T5s are dimmable. I currently have 3 ATI Blue plus and a 1 Purple plus in it and have turned down the white channel to 40% to get a look I like. I tried for a year with 2 Kessil AP700s and have a ton of brown SPS to show for it. Things have already started to improve and I should have at least swapped to T5s months ago. Just bought some new SPS frags so I will see if they have any color issues or not.

My previous tank had a MH/T5 combo and I had pretty good success with lesser equipment and upkeep than I currently have. MH is certainly wonderful, but there is a lot of heat and I had to have a fan to keep it cool.

I made some progress on my Matrix II-based LED\T5 hybrid project, so I figured I would share :

Ignore the light color, I didnt hook up the controller yet so I couldnt really adjust the power on the LEDs.

The fixture will have 4 clusters. Each cluster is around 140w worth of LEDs with 12 channels:

Royal Blue 455nm
Blue - 465nm
Deep Blue - 440nm
HyperViolet - 425
Violets - 405nm + 415nm
Cyan - 495nm
Mint - 440nm + 525nm
Neutral White - 4700K 90CRI
PC Amber - 560nm
Red - 630nm
Deep Red 675nm
Moonlight (blue)

Its a mix of Luxeon and SemiLeds

Why does it seem no one ever talking about the Vervve ... when BRS first got this light and did a review it really looked nice and they seemed big on it. But it seems like NO ONE ever talks about it. Does this light just suck or does everyone at this price point just go with the radions?
