Hey all, been reading here for a while, and I'm starting to put together my first real reef build (220g sps dominant), so I figured it would be a good time to join the conversation. Have a few large freshwater tanks and a five year old 29g mixed reef with mostly lps.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums. When I was about 13 I got really into the hobby but I never had the money to get a real tank going. I did some poorly planned and implemented fresh water tanks. I'm 19 now, and I'm getting interested in the hobby again! My boyfriends also interested, so he'll be helping to choose some of the animals that'll be stocked. Excited to meet you guys and get some new advice and info!

Yo, have a 90 gallon fowlr setup for about 5 years. Was a member here in the past but lost access. I'm back now and I'm building a new 240g. Very excited. Thanks for having me back. Later

40 Gallon Breeder, Could use some advice

Hi everyone, I am new to reef keeping, bought a 40 Gallon breeder and have been trying to maintain a reef for the last 4 months. So far I'm struggling with brown algae and keeping soft corals alive. I have a ton of questions for anyone looking to help! Thanks

Current setup is -
Back of the tank is divided with a artifical rock wall creating a refugium, where I have lots of macro algae
Reef Octopus HOB skimmer
Aquatic Life Ro Buddy RODI unit (fills a 30 Gallon BRUTE trash can)
36" Finnex Marine + LED
30" Aquatraders Quad T5 HO with Coralife bulbs 2 Actinics and 2 6700K
40lbs Caribsea 'Life Rock'
60lbs Caribsea 'Live sand'
3 Sun-Sun JVP powerheads for water movement
2 heaters

I've been posting, but I should probably introduce myself. I'm MuShu. I've had fish tanks on and off my entire life. I had an aunt who had a wall with eight 20 gallon planted tanks that I loved as a kid. I've been running a 29 gallon freshwater planted tank since December, and my oldest son (9) has a 5.5 gallon tank with a small fish and inverts.

A coworker gave me a 55gal recently and we decided to go with a reef as opposed to a larger planted tank. It's been a family project, but I do all the putting together and the maintenance. My husband and kids just tell me what they would love to have.

Hello, I am just getting started and have a 29g Coralife Biocube on the way. I figure it will allow me a nice slow start with room to grow. The military moves me around quite a bit so I anticipate having to restart every few years and don't want to lug a huge setup all over the world. Looking forward to the journey.

Hello everyone!

Another newbie here finally about to take the plunge in this new hobby! I've been wanting to do this for about 3 years, and finally decided to go for it.

I'll be starting off with a 8-10G all in one JBJ rimless tank. I'll have a clown and a goby, some hermit crabs and hopefully a few soft colorful corals!

Howdy. Joined about a month ago after realizing I knew about 6% of the info I needed to keep my 55g FOWLR.

Completely addicted and already dreaming of a bigger tank for a reef.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far and for all the great info on this site.

Angry Hey ya'll...new to this site & hobby

Hello...and Howdy!

I just began this crazy hobby and it's a nightmare. LOL. I have made a lot of rookie mistakes that cost me a lot of money...and my poor new friend's their little lives. I am going thru different conversations and forums. Can anyone tell me the best solution to bring my Nitrates down??

The tank was set up in March....cycled in April. I added 6 fish second week of April, then 6 more...they all died of stress...accept my Damsels. Now that I have all my parameters on track...I still can't get my Nitrates down!!

NO3' 10PPM

SOS!!!

Hello RC,
Very new to the hobby.... wife and I always had freshwater tanks growing up. So now that we wear big kid pants we decided to dive head first into the hobby. Started with a 6 gallon nano and are in the process of graduating to a 100 gallon with " were not sure" is going in it. I just spent 5 hours drawing out my plumbing options for our 100 gallon bow front. Feel free to pm with tips, advice, or just a hello! Husband and Wife will be using RC hence the RC=Me AC=her. Happy reefing!!!

Hey everybody. I'm doug, I'm new to saltwater, had freshwater all my life. It's quite the experience. I have about 4 years experience in being an Aquatic Animal Life Support Operator at my local zoo, so i know a decent amount about water quality. I'm sporting a drilled 40 breeder with a custom 20gal sump. It's cycling as we speak.

Hello, I'm from Java island in Indonesia and I'm 1 year into saltwater aquariums but kinda still new. I have a (I forgot) gallon reef tank. My favorite tank fish are pipefish and anglerfish. My favorite tank Invertebrates are sea cucumbers. I can't keep soft NPS corals, they are notoriously hard excluding a few. I like LPS corals but I don't have any. Looking to buy stuff after Ramadan.

Hey

I haven't got much to tell yet really lol.
I've just started a cycle last week on a 64litre tank, my first aquarium ever.
After doing lots of research (a lot of it on here as a guest haha) I thought I would give it a go and join up the RC community.

Zero fish yet but I've still definitely caught the marine bug! haha. Can't wait until I've got it all up and running and see what it can throw at me my girlfriends all ready going mad about the cost hehe but my daughter is as excited as I am

Anyway, that's me.
