I bought both sets. The major is way too much. The minor cuts 100 PAR by my measurements. My stylo was begging for more light due to shadowing so I threw the T5 supplements back on today. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I have the major diffusion on for about a week now. It really does cut PAR alot. Had to increase intensity from 65% to 85%. Less shimmers, coverage seem the same to my eyes.

I haven't, but I think I have found my ideal spot is 65%, 4 hours, 7" off water, Aaron 180 Gallon Dream (Now Reality) http://www.panhandlereefers.com/foru...Now-Reality%29

I do plan to add 4 T5 bulbs but later once corals start crowding and shadowing each other. Aaron 180 Gallon Dream (Now Reality) http://www.panhandlereefers.com/foru...Now-Reality%29

I just ordered the Minor Diffusion lens to try out. The major diffusion subdue a lot of the shimmer, but I want to see what the minor looks like.

I got the lens today. It's not a dramatic change from the major diffusion, but I'll have to look at it for a few more days to note the difference.

I wish they would work on the program and also apex compatibility since the light has now been out for a while.
I will pick up one of these diffusers eventually. |

I gotta say that this fixture gets really hot even at 70%. I don't know how they're going to fix that 70% output limit they said was a failsafe for not overheating with just a software update. While I don't need to run my fixture at 100%, I still want what was promised from this fixture.

700 and nems
Anyone have input on nem success thus far? I have had two bta's turn into recluse's. They have shrank considerably as well. Peak is at 56% for 2.5 hours. Duncan, polyps, and brain corals are all really happy. I only have one unit 8 inches above a 60x18x24, supplemented with t5.
Pretty happy to see this thread separate from kessil club, kind of a pita to dig through that forum. |

Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!
I have 4 btas near the top of a rock almost directly under 1 of the picks.
I think you have too much light. That's usually the reason btas hide. Tank is a 40b, light is 12" high running at 50% peak for 4 hrs. Is the tank new? Or are the btas new additions? If not what kind of light were they under before? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tanks a year old, one was transfer from an older smaller tank with t5ho, other came from a LFS that was under led, but the ones from eBay....I have experimented leaving the t5 off and nothing changed except coral wasn't real happy. Maybe I'll attempt again.

I am running my AP700 about 10 inches off the water. My tank is 48 x 21 x 20. I have 2 Kessil A160s at the edges to supplement. I added these because I had to raise the AP700 too high to get full coverage - tank is in the living room and was getting too much light spillage. AP700 runs for 1 hour ramp up and down and 7 hours at 43% A160s run for 12 hours with a 4 hours ramp up and down with peak at 45%. Everything is growing well. The bubble tip is in the corner and gets lots of flow and probably mid to low light and it likes the spot, the baby stays right there and it never moved. I gotta say I had this nem and light on a smaller tank and never had this success. In fact I had a lot of these corals in another tank and something happened with this new setup where they are thriving. I had T5 supplement and tried other things. A par meter is also very helpful - I use the Seneye meter.

He is also supplementing with T5s. Didn't mention how many or what kind or what the light schedule for those are. But based on nem behavior, too much light is my best guess. Not so much duration but intensity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For what size tank? You'll get way better coverage on a larger tank from an AP 700. NanoBox lights are designed for nano tanks so the coverage for larger tanks isn't always great. I own both. I have a NanoBox Duo on my Fusion 20 and love it. Best color rendition of any light I had. But I'd hesitate to run a NanoBox on a larger tank, unless it was a hybrid Dave builds.

Spoke to the tech at kessil and they are working on the issue. For some reason the unit just have a hard time connecting to the router directly. |
