I sold my 748 last year. I put less than 500 miles on it, so the wife said it had to go. Plus I wanted to put the Lexus back in the garage.

Loved that bike in the corners.

I will reciprocate...

Mavgi,
I think maybe you just have a dirty tank. What are your nitrates? Mine are less than 1ppm using Lamotte. I do 5% water change a week.

OT, a little

Ken,

The M3 is nice and clean, did you do any engine work? I also have an 325 (E46). When I want to feel the road and want that tight feel I drive the E46, and when I want to float and put the seat back a little I drive the G3.

I never know that skimmer have connection to cars

ken6217 :

i use with salfiert and elos test kit (not to bad)

i keep my nitrate at 5ppm no less then that i can keep it on 0.00 but IMO it's not good .

po4 0.00 (on those 2 test kit)

i do 10-15% water change every week .

my water in the tank can stay crystal clear even without skiming one week

but i feed my fish 2-3 time a day and very heavy and this is show how the skimmer perform very well.

my fish have full color and look fat .

one more thing maybe you right and my tank dirty but you can look on the BUBBLE MASTER thread and see how this skimmer perform to be honest do you think all those tank dirty to .....

I feed 2-3 times a day to, have almost 40 fish..and am just running a g3..

Outside of the guk under the sand.. my tank is pretty darn clean..and I stopped running ozone about a month ago (tanks only been up for 3).

So if i'm getting results this decent..with a g3 I reallly can't wait until I put a proper sized skimmer on.. Granted i run my g3 Verrrry wet.. I empty it between once and twice a day...and I do 40 gallon water changes every week.

Once I do get the better skimmer... I'm really gonna start going SPS nutso

Mavgi,
Sure they do. Both are obcessions.

Obviously I do not know your tank and I'm sure it is nice. I just don't see how an approriately rated skimmer can pull that much stuff out of the water every 8 hours. There has to be something in it to get pulled out, and that's a lot.

Regarding the Bubble Master, I know a skimmer distributer that has tested them. Their opinion is that they do work well but the quality varies from unit to unit. Hopefully this will be corrected.

I really keep it clean and garaged. It has never been to a car wash. No surface scratches at all. I wash it myself or I have it done by hand where I park my car to take the train into Manhattan for work. I didn't do any engine or exhaust work (even though I would love to) as I already learned that at this car price level, you get your butt kicked when you want to sell it or trade it in.

Your cars are nice. By the way, what skimmer do you have?

When was the last time you saw a thread where someone was downgrading their BK, H&S, or Deltec for middle or bottom tier?
I sold my deltec and bought an octopus. Got $300 back, and got a better skimmer.

FWIW, with meshwheels, that 3 pump octopus will pull more air than a dart needlewheel skimmer. I'm getting almost 70 scfh from my OTP3000 for about 40-50 watts.

35 LPH, not bad. Is that 35 LPH per pump, or total (10 LPH per pump)?

all skimmer have similar design the only different is the pump and the technology of the needle wheel. H&S,Deltec use germany made pump ehiem, aquabee vs asm, euro reef, octopus use sedra pump made in USA. Now you can compare a 300 horse ford engine to a 300 horse BMW or Mercedes engine which one will perform better?

Time wont tell, its pretty damn obvious right now. Its an 8" skimmer that pulls a huge amount of air, vs a dinky 5" skimmer that pulls 16scfh at twice the cost. Theres no comparison.

Its one pump. Single OTP 3000 running Enkamat.

The Octopus skimmers do not use Sedras. They use OEM oceanrunner pumps.

Sadly to say, the Ford (USA) engine will put out more torque than the German engines. I say sadly since I have a German car. Take a look at a 500 hp BMW M5 versus a Corvette Z06 or a Ford Shelby, you get over 500 ft lbs of torque vesus about 350 for the BMW.

I dont see many BK, H&S and Deltec owners whining.
