gsxunv04, by the time I find the snails.. they usually are long gone, (eaten, fish food, crab buffet, disintegrated, liquefied, but just "GONE" nothing but the shell... )
But yes.. if you find anything dead, REMOVE IT. However, I don't always find them until AFTER they've been dead and gone for a while. The bigger the snail, the bigger they are to find (usually). The ones I don't find are the smaller astrea snails.
