Well we all like pics here are a couple from tonight. The skimmate is starting to collect and its pretty dark and stinky. I have what I would think a lightly stocked 75 with a 30g sump. 1 maroon clown, a pygmy angel, and mandarian goby, and a longnose hawk, SPS, LPS and Softies.

Sounds good. Everytime I clean mine it takes a while for it to catch back up.
I have left mine dirty for about a week now. I will get some pics on Sunday.

Well I have another skimmer I will be doing a review on here in a couple more weeks. So in another week or two I will be getting rid of this one as a heads up. So far so good.

if they were then your skimmers would be some of the worst. Just because a pump uses 100W or 300W doesn't mean it is a better skimmer pump than a pump that only pulls 50W. What does matter is how much air they pull in relation to the amount of energy they consume.

The skimmer is coming out today as it has a new home to goto. I will take some more photo's before taking it out. IT has been pretty impressive. It has pulled some of the darkest gunk out of the water I have seen come from my aquarium. I am going to an external recirc skimmer. I have been wanting one for some time and well I couldnt pass it up. I hope my review has helped some of you out there. I really think for the money this is a great skimmer.has all the key benifits that higher priced skimmers have. it is silent and does very well.

I know resun pumps are supposedly crap (I have never actually used one). But I have yet to hear something bad about them on the vertex'... I'm not saying something will not show up down the road, but still, so far so good.

Well as posted i have sold this skimmer as I have a recirc skimmer external and if I were to go with another internal i will probably go bubble king as I have tried so many and well I figure it should be my last. But here are two pics of what this thing pull out for me. This was only after 3 days in my light bioload tank. I wouldnt bash these skimmers at all. very well built and run well.

AS you can see the skimmate is dark, stinky, and just the way we like it. For the $$ of these skimmers you are really getting a good product. If you have any qualms about the pump , they have made it easy for you to swap it out later on down the road. I didnt have any issues. It has a ceramic shaft, large air intake, same as my msx 200 i had. So for $199 you get a great design. Sturdy skimmer. I didnt find anything posted on the water depth so that was a little dissapointing. But with the IN 100 skimmer you will be best suited around 7 inches. I hope you all have enjoyed the review I have been able to do for you. Great bang for the buck skimmer IMO. ~

I think they put this pump on to keep the price down and give you a good product at a fair price. They could of went with a sedra, aquabee, or another pum but then that puts them up their fighting with higher priced skimmers such as the MSX, octo's , MRC, and Euroreef just to name a few. You get what you pay for and this is good skimmer at a fair price.

ok, if paying for 2 tomatoes is cool with you, a large portion of the cost of the skimmer is the pump so you are going to pay for the pump twice.
but if we start upgrading pumps what happens when the bubble plate needs modifying to allow for more air, or when the output needs modding due to the change in pump? i get what your saying but im just not into modding skimmers especially ones that should be covered under a warranty because the mod will void your warranty. bubble magnus 150/160 comes with a good pump to start.

I am sure you will like it. Worked best in about 7 inches of water. My skimmer section runs at 9 inches so i made a stand. 9 inches was too high. Good luck and I feel you will be pleased. You get a lot of opinions from people that are pretty biased. I have met alot of people that pretty much say their skimmer is best. Whatever it is. And truth be told no skimmer is best. Its what really is best for you. Their are some better ones out there thats for sure. But you have to look at some major things when buying a skimmer
Price range Size of tank and load Internal or external space allowed. I have seen several asm skimmers and personally i could never see what all the hype was about. But when they came out they were good bang for the buck skimmers. technology keeps changing and does the research going into the product you buy. Its a matter of preference. So enjoy your skimmer as I am sure you will. It copies alot of the popular more expensive designs out there. And premium is great to deal with.

Yeah, bought the skimmer based on the advise of Premium Aquatics who recommended the reeflo skimmer to me for my 120. That skimmer was so much better than any other I've owned so I figure I'll trust em again and give it a shot on this one.
Hopefully post pics and personal opinions in a few days time. My main concern is the pump quality and noise. Won't be able to determine durability for quite some time, but we'll at least see how noisy it is. Nate |
