i traded my rena xp3 filter, it was an evenish trade, a new 55 is $129 and hood and lights for it(stock) is $60, the filter is around 180 something
i have a tinfoil bard that is 6.5 inches long and it is cramped in the 29. my wife mentioned the other day i was not giving the FW fish much love so this weekend i am building a stand and transfering things over, thats the plan atleast.

couple of more pics

this is as far as i got this day, i was able to put the waste water in a utility sink i have close by. i was missing a fitting for the di section of the filter. i called and buckeye told me to wait for a couple of days. headed to menards in the morning and picked up the fitting i was missing. i did a bit of tape and i thought i was good to go.....well all the fittings were leaking(remember the tore up box) except for the one i did. i took the whole thing apart and retaped every fitting put it back togeather and i have not had a problem since. buckeye was very nice and set me a new round of filters for my troubles, great customer service btw.

i called the LFS and they told me they got something in i have been asking for the last 3 months. a tigertail cucumber.....

went up there and he mentioned he had two but couldnt find one. so i bought the one that was out in the open. was on the way home so i peeked in the bag and saw this....

the cucumber puked its insides, and had somekind of parasite(wish i had something better then my the camera on the phone).

i live 4 min from this LFS so i did a U turn and headed back. i was not discouraged and went and "exchanged" it for the other one he had(took 15 min to find it since i was buried).

here he is in the bag

here he goes into the middle rock, i wont see him again for a couple of months

Glad to hear that you got the cucumber you were looking for. I hate when you add something to your tank and rarely see it. I've had a Blood shrimp for a year and half and I'm lucky if I see him once every month or two. It seems like he pops his head out of his cave just to let me know he's still alive. Sorry to hear about your tang getting picked on. Tangs are such fast healers when it comes to ripped, tattered and torn fins though. My yellow tang was annoying my Powder Blue and when he had enough, he speared the Yellow with his tail mounted scalpel and cut/ripped a 1/4" gash in his side. I kept monitoring it for ten days for any signs of infection and by then the tear had totally healed itself. The Yellow has a better attitude now towards the PBT....lol

yeah i bet the PBT is the boss now lol

You should have had your hubby combine your gifts to get your new tank.

I'm doing that this year---last year I bought two pails of salt and only used one. The other pail will have to be this xmas present with a big red bow from the dollar store

This is definetly a rich persons hobby or for someone that's lucky enough to have space left on their charge card(s)

sept update continued

new additions and my first SPS

wanting to take a pic of my new cucumber i was using a red light to view the tank after lights out and saw this.

this is a pic in the morning after the attinics came on, thats a reticulated cowrie that did the damage

after asking around fellow reefers in the clubhouse suggested it could have been eating the dead "skin" off of it but after a couple of days i began to wonder if this is the same reason my toadstool had not come out in months. i took a closer look at the toadstool
and saw that the polyps had been eaten also. The cowrie was taken out of the DT and put in the sump/fuge. it has eaten all the white and red sponges i had growning in various areas and cleaned up the intake part of the sump very well.
