I shouldn't try to return it if I can? Is there anything I can do to help it come back?

you can if you want but most stores will not take livestock back for a full refund.

how does the xenia look? it appears that it stretched itself out to reach for the light, and there are little hairs on the tentacles some of the time (you can see in the picture). is it just asking for more light?

Toss that brain, it's just polluting your tank. At $10 they are gonna say that it was that price because it was dying, with that much skeleton showing there was no bringing that one back. Watch deals that seem to good to be true

^^ They should've told us that when we were buying it and it would've saved them the hassle

polluting our tank? as in releasing ammonia or what?
I think they may give us a refund, the owner seems like a pretty chill guy..if we explain that we didn't realize it was dying/dead I think he'll take it back, or at least give us store credit. |

How much of a ph swing during the lighting cycle is bad? Our's is going 7.9-8.1 or 8.0-8.2

cool that you got a hammer. your ph is fine, it swings because the corals in the tank are using the carbon and creating oxygen that causes the ph to go up, and when the lights are off they dont use the carbon.

Couldn't he off set the ph swing with a lighted fuge that was opposite of the main lights?

^^ That's what I've heard. Probably setting up some sort of fuge soon. I'm not super concerned abut the ph, just making sure that was somewhat normal....
here's a new full tank shot with everything circled. |

the rock work looks really nice, you might want to be careful with the xenia and green star polyps because they will tank over your tank if not kept trimmed. where is the hammer coral?

^^ Thanks guys! We weren't too sure about the rock work at first but I think I like this arrangement too. What's the best way to trim them. Hammer is second in from the left. It's closed up right now. The GSP is right below it. It's pretty small. Should be a while before we have to trim it hah

The green star polyps have been doing a bit better each day, it definitely settling in well. The candy cane was looking sort of sad today but apparently thats normal? (someone said that on the LPS section) But prior to hearing that I moved it where it is now, it was on the left side of the tank on the very far left rock, do you think it will like the less flow it's getting on the right side?
And you can't tell but the farest left circle are yellow-ish Zoas Last edited by eamike261; 07/13/2010 at 10:52 PM. |

dont really need to target feed your corals, and dont dose anything you cant test for. if you do water changes regularly you wont need to dose anything
