Thanks mapleredta! Sharing settings is what this threads all about! I just noticed the 9 am setting should be 20/30/30. not 20/20/20

OP... I was wondering if you'd want to change the "AI" in the title to read "Aqua Illumination."

It would make it easier to find for people specifically searching aqua illumination on this forum or google.

MedRed - I have a 60G cube as well. Why did you go with 2 sets of AI SOL's?

I only have 1 and now I am worried I will not have the coverage I need. I am planning on moving all my fish/corals/rock to this tank this weekend and this will be the only light. I may have made a mistake in going with this light as I dont have a clue on how to set it up or what is the right coverage.

Hey Rob,

I went with two because the original recommendation was 1 unit per 12". George from Reef Geek just spoke at our local club meet and stated that the recommendation is one per 24" as long as you can mount them 12" above the tank. I can only mount my lights 6 inches above, so I really needed 2 fixtures. Seeing as how I'm at 40% max for only 2 hours a day, I'm sure you can get away with 1 fixture.

Socal Tropical Fish in Fullerton, CA you can get their site from google. It's a very popular LFS here in Socal which killer pricing. They probably have some in stock.
I assume you meant have an Apex but still went AI.

I second both recommendations. I run my AI lights off of an Apex and while the controller provides great flexibility, it's a pain in the arse to do simple functions like ramp up and down the lights on a whim! You have to program a profile to do so. The AI controller lets you do that on the fly. If I don't decide to swap out the lights, I'll probably pick up the AI controller.

I also bought mine from Socal Tropical Fish. Great store and pricing.

Very nice, can you please give us some info and close up pics of how you attached a hanging kit to the single rail? I have a single rail set up and would like to do that.

I have a 65g tank 36x18x24 mainly sps and some Lps. What I wanted to know what would be a good starting point for my two ai modules at 12in above the water line.

Thanks!

That should be fine. I have 3 hung 8" above on a 48x30x20 and the coverage is great.

Can't figure out the Apex. I'm completely over my head.....uuuugh. Finally got lights its 3am I'm done. My first controller ever probably should have been the AI controller. Words of wisdom..."whats another 70 bucks"......bummed out....the lights look amazing on my rug!!!

Sorry to hear about your frustration. Try posting in the Neptune forum, I'm sure someone can lend assistance. Good luck and hang in there. Yours going to love the lights once you get it dialed.

Well one issue is the serial (aicable) that apparently connects to the VDM and the AI Modules. I assume it connects DATA PORT on the module and the serial port on the VDM? I have a cable like that as No one thought to add it in with the entire set up...details I guess don't matter when spending 2300.00!! Like Bose and Apple this little serial cable common enough seems to be proprietary. Mine won't work. So after 2 months waiting for the lights now its a cable. Oh and the legs are so short had to spring for the hanging kit. love love love Reefing!!!.............Just saying.....

I have a question. I have been debating on buy AI fixtures. I see that you can buy them with controllers and without. If i buy two fixtures do both need controllers? Would 2 sol blue fixtures be okay on a tank that has next to no sps, 36long x 15wide x 21deep Where is the best place to buy them?

You can run up to 6 modules off of one controller. As where to buy them. Quite a number of places sell them online. Their prices are comparible, no heavy discounts on these. Try to find a place that actually has them in stock and pull the trigger.

I switched out the 40s for all 70s. So far I really like it. My tank is only 20" tall so I really like the even spread.

New timer setting:
Timer1: 8:00am duration 240mins white 25% blue 25% royal blue 30% lunar off
Timer2: 2:00pm duration 240mins white 50% blue 50% royal blue 55% lunar off
Timer3: 8:00pm duration 60mins white 25% blue 25% royal blue 30% lunar off
Timer4: 9:00pm duration 30mins white 0% blue 10% royal blue 10% lunar off
Timer5: 9:30pm duration 30mins white 0% blue 0% royal blue 0% lunar on

Ok so here what I am thinking for my 300DD tank. Seem like good enough coverage? I am not using a canopy so height restriction is not an issue.

The sol has 2 white and 1 blue led per puck. The sol blue has 1 white, 1 blue, 1 royal blue led per puck.
