And that is why people do it. Walk in there, see that, think ' these guys wouldn't do anyting to harm their fish' , and then try to copy it.

And who's to blame? LFS is for sure and some big box stores have to sell if that's what the customer wants. Just shameful really and it really hurts this hobby.

It is true that the LFS's hurt the hobby, but what about the hobbyists? sure we are new at one point, but at some point we need to research and know better, and the ones that don't,well don't last in the hobby very long (IMO)

One of the things that still haunts me is walking into one of the big-box stores and seeing a jack over a foot long in a tank in which he literally could not turn around. Cruel. But some distributor shipped that fish knowing that this store has small display tanks. I have met the fish manager there, who is a conscientious man just trying to do the best he can for these fish within the limits of what they let him do---while keeping his job and supporting his family. But I have a feeling that scenario did not end well, and I know that guy would have tried everything he could to help that poor creature---but what do you do, when you've been shipped a fish only the Seattle Aquarium could deal with? You just shudder, is what, and swear at people who just should have turned that fish back into the ocean.

he maintained sg at 1.011- 1.012!

method of disease prevention simply involves maintaining the aquarium at a lower salinity than normal -- in this case, 15 ppt (specific gravity = 1.011-1.012)

There is a fish equivalent of the Crazy Cat Lady, you know, the ones you see on the news, with the pictures you don't like to look at. And the Crazy Cat Lady will be standing on the curb bawling about her babies and what good care she takes of all 300 of them.
