Coral Pics!

Snapped a few pics with my phone, came out better than I thought they would. Funny, that my Droid cellphone can take better pictures than my digital camera lol.

Hey. Nice tank/build, even with the mandatory reef disaster. Just an fyi...it looks like you have some aptasia anemones growing with you zoas. I hope you didn't mention that in an earlier post and I just missed it. Anyway, just letting you know in case you didn't see them. Good luck!

Nice build! Just get a small clip on fan from wal mart. They work great. Prepare for quite a bit of evaporation though. Gallon or two a day atleast.

+1 h8z on the small clip-on, put it on the same time as your lights. The corals are looking great Christian, you are doing a wonderful job with the tank. Especially considering the budget you're on. Keep up the awesome work. If the temp swing in the tank is really only 3 degrees its really not too bad, although the variation will likely grow in the summer. Once you get all of your individual shots done and mount the frags lets see a full tank shot! I don't remember if you mentioned, but are you running a refugium? If so, what are you using? How often are you changing filter socks?

System looks great! With the second take did you drill the bottom again? I thought the bottom pain on most tanks was tempered

Thank you, it was a lot of work lol. I did notice them, and I actually did not know what they were, although I could tell my zoas don't like them. I've been picking them off manually but I think I may soon be buying several peppermint shrimp if the problem persists.

Thanks for the complement! I may have to order online as my local walmart does not carry them. Neither does my local HD.

Hey man, I'm glad to see you checking in on your little brother's thread. Thanks for the kind words, I've been getting a lot of help from my brothers and this tank wouldn't be possible without you guys. A LOT of sacrifices have been made in the name of my tank haha, it mostly leaves me with no beer money

I'm gonna have to borrow your camera! my phone can only do so much... I'll post a FTS shortly, as well as a pic of the new sump set up.

I did! I'm pretty handy, and I've done a lot of DIY projects, but many things, such as drilling the glass was new for me. Looking back at my many, many mistakes, I learned from them and re-drilled my new one. Many of the typical petco ones have tempered glass, but I got the new tank from a friend who assured me it wasn't tempered.

I'm assuming it's still just as bad as aiptasia or is it worse?

FTS as promised...

There's a bunch of green/ blue rim monti frags on the bottom I'm trying to get rid of, and there are a couple bleached frags that I received from some trades that are still coloring back up. I actually think I have upwards of 50 frags in the tank... Not sure what I'm going to do when they start growing hahaha!

Here's a shot of the Sump:

I usually have filter socks in there. (they are currently sitting in RO water, as I just cleaned them with bleach and ran them through the wash)

I change them as often as I need to and sometimes the tank will go a week or so without filter socks. I've banished my hermit crabs to the middle chamber of the sump so I let food get in there some times. (The crabs were just destructive to my coral frags and just knock them off rocks or break them)

As far as a refugium goes, the middle chamber is as close to a fuge as I can get at the moment. I may find a way to mount a PC light under the tank soon.

Thanks! I imagine I may have to do some rearranging once they begin to grow out haha. And yeah it's a good little phone, it takes decent pictures but I had a lot of trouble getting shots. One day I'll make the investment on a quality camera.
