This pertains to the RD3 DC pump. Perhaps someone can explain to me in this PDF section 2.2 Formal Obligations. It states as follows Essential parts
of the pumps originate from non-German or near-European production. Does this mean the main components don't come from Germany? Here is the PDF http://royalexclusiv.net/images/cont...e_eng_vs02.pdf |

No, thatīs not true. The only Components of the RD3 Speedy Pumps, where is not manufactured in Germany, are the PCB-Cards (Made in Slovenia) The new Generation RD3 Speedy Pumps use a updated PCB-Card. The new Electronic Components include PCB-Card are 100 % Made in Germany.
The only Components current on this DC Pumps, where is not Made in Germany, are the Titanium-Screws and Bolts. The Alumina Case for the Controller was Made in Italy. The main components come from Germany. best regards.. Klaus |

I heard the Speed Wave got in big trouble for the UL tested sticker violation. Didn't get permission or something to that affect? Plus weren't alot of the power modules getting too hot and burning up? It makes you think maybe the extra money is worth it for the piece of mind. I really don't want to come home to find out my return pump caught on fire and now the fire department is hosing down my house kind of like that Direct T.V commercial, LOL.

That is worrisome. Gotta go home and check the heat on my DC-9000 power supply. |

Bought a speedwave DC 1320 last summer and put it into service in July. It failed last night. Electronics package seems to be OK but my ability to tell is limited. I disassemble what I could to look for a jam or other problem but it is clean. It was very quiet and pumped an adequate amount of water for my needs but six months of service is a disappointment. It looks like Premium Aquatics has removed them from their website. I will probably post the alert under another thread to amke it a little more searchable.

After reading this whole thread, I'll eat a few extra watts and stick with mag pumps for my returns. Thanks.

My Diablo DC 10500 just quit on me. 7 months. So far, not impressed. I guess that I will see if they will replace it.
It is the pump, not the controller - I swapped with the one on my Diablo Skimmer and either controller will control the working pump... and neither will start the dead pump. |

CoralVue is by LEAPS and BOUNDS is the best to deal w/issues on the DC pumps. Had a new COMPLETE pump within a week or two on 4 separate occasions on different pumps; flow and NW. A phone call/email to the place I bought them from, maybe an email from CoralVue w/a Q and that's it other than sending back the old pump.
Others is like pulling teeth and send one component at a time...waste of time and very frustrating. Diablos are on the higher price range for basically the same pump but it's definitely worth it! JME/2C |

CV is already sending me a new one. This could not have been easier. This helps a little bit, but I would still like the replacement to last many, many years.
Also, it was 5 months of use, not 7. |

I don't think that there are any efficiencies in using a DC pump over a internal if you constantly need heat. Here in Colorado, our heaters run even in the summertime, so the heat from the Mags are a always welcome in my house. I have no doubt that there are climates where the heat from a Mag might not be desired, but not for me.

seals but not motor bearings
I will own that Reeflo pumps can have seal problems-(thanks you UPS gorillas)...but I will not sit by and hear that we have motor bearing problems-believe me we hear about ALL of them and they are pretty rare, our motors are far suprior to those used by Dolphin

I talked to my supplier about the Waveline pump I have issues with, he gave me a 2nd gen controller it seems to work better now. It also has a soft start which doesn't splash water everywhere when the pump first turns on.

How do you know if your waveline is gen2 or not? It is supposed to be but I want to make sure.
