I think I'm going to get one. I was over at Aqurium Specility the other day and Scott was telling me about this controller. He had a chance to see it at one of the shows he attends. He said it was a nice controller, that I should take a closer look at when it comes out. So I'm pretty sure I'm going to order one tomorrow when I go by there.

This is steep price for beta version without probes and with only 6 relay controlled outlets power strip IMO

I wonder since it is open source if companies like Ecotech and such will put together logic for their equipment or not. IE you DL this plugin or such to use with the main Cerebra unit to do everything you wish with the pumps.

For me I am too invested in the apex world as I have WAVs and DOS which would not work with this unit. Though as a consumer I am super excited about this and hopes it sells like gangbusters. It willput pressure on the others and hopefully also drive a bit of a price war. Apex could charge whatever it wanted as there was basically no competition. This might change that course of action for the betterment of all of us.

The price of 239 for multi bar is actually not bad at all considering you get a whole other controller set for a second tank with whole new set of probes connections.

Also the price of the conductivity probe is nice.

Why not buy another unit for 374.99, which comes with a multi-bar, and you get two separate controllers

BRS just posted the Cerebra to their website with tons of data.
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/cerebr...ge-vertex.html

The Prima Package includes;
Whats Included?

Cerebra Controller Head Unit

Cerebra Multi-Bar (6 outlets)

Smart-Temp Sensor

USB A-B Cable

Cloud Registration code

Black Stylus

Powersupply for head unit

They also have the dimensions for the head unit and multi bar.

The pricing on the probes is fantastic. The PH, and Conductivity are cheap when compared to Neptunes.

I predict this could kill off any "NON" American competition. I highly doubt it will even put a paper scratch in Apex's dominance over here though.

After reading through all posts one very interesting thing comes up, everyone is comparing it to an Apex? which is made in the USA, why not compare it to ProfiLux? Being German would that not make a better comparison?

I am very curious about this controller. There are some interesting things about it for sure, such as the fact that it uses standard USB. Not just the connectors like the Apex, but USB which allows you to connect a keyboard, mouse, or a regular USB hub if you need to expand to plug in more modules. As far as pricing goes, I have to laugh at many of the comments here. If they charged more for it people would complain. If they charge less for it, people complain. Thats nuts. I know that some of the Vertex products are not cheap, but they aren't built cheap either. For me, my Omega skimmer is built like a rock and was very competitively priced. My RX-6D calcium reactor was $500. A very good price for a dual chamber reactor that is also built like a rock. Cheaper price than several others as well. I would expect a great controller out of this company and I am excited to see what they have come up with. As a long time controller geek, this is one that I have looked at for some time. I have no idea why it took so long but hopefully it is worth the wait.

I agree with you regarding the pricing Dave, if they did not discount it that heavily people would complain and even after the large discount people complain.

Michael, I think most compare it to the Apex because I would imagine if you asked the roughly 50-60 posters in this thread, probably over 80% have an apex. I doubt more then 10% have a Profilux.

While the Profilux may be the best controller on the market, I think the lack of marketing, information, and channels of purchase prevent it from being a big player in the USA market. I can imagine if BRS would sell the Profilux and posted detailed videos to explain the product and benefits to end users it would sell much better. I've looked into the ProfiLux in the past but some of the accessories were a bit too much then what I wanted to spend.

Guys, go on this link and it takes you to the Spec sheet, 5 page sheet that has tons of info on the controller and features.

http://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3...df&h=hAQE4Ad2i

Here are some key features that I think are fantastic;
-Cloud Access to Display and control parameters and devices, email and sms alerts
-Best feature of the cloud access, they call it Heart-BeatFunction which basically means the controllers transmits a complete status list every few minutes and the data is backed up on the cloud server. The key part is, if the connection or power is ever lost, the cloud server will generate an email and sms alert to let you know. Along with the lart, the last reported status of the system data such as temp and ph will be provided.

I wonder if the intro pricing is a test to see the market adoption and if the plan is to keep the unit at that price.

If the final price is anywhere near under $400 a ton of people will be jumping ship from the Apex.

Probes are cheap and all are BNC connections so it's industry standard so many will go for that over the proprietary probes. The conductivity one is a huge selling point.

I'll bet that number is closer to 1% and possibly less than that.

The Vertex probes look pretty reasonably priced as well. Based on that spec sheet, double junction probes will also be available.
