Okay well I returned the Flame angel, that little guy was pretty mean. Im gunna have to give it another shot some other time.

But I WAS able to to get a couple decent shots of the Anthias. They are still pretty shy due to the agressive angel so it was hard to get any good shots of them. I couldnt even get them all out together at once but here are a couple pics.

Thanks.

The sandbed is like 1" all around but as you can see most of the front right sandbed is blown to the left side. I learned to just live with it .

Will you be using an automatic feeder for the anthias? I read they should be fed 3 to 4 times a day. I'd like to keep 3 in my tank.

Nah, Ill just be feeding them twice a day, manually.

This is the same thing I did with my tri-color anthias in my old tank and he was fine.

Nice shots man, great start to your tank!

Good news! Im getten my vortech this tuesday!

If you do get an autofeeder, I suggest the eheim one, works really good!

Is there any other website beside marine depot that talks about this vortech pump? This pump seems very interesting and would love to learn more about it.

Vortech Pump

Premium aquatics has this pump on the front page of their website.

http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc

They say they have it in stock as well, I think they will even price match. This is a great store and has excellent customer service!

Local reefer in frisco who was tearing down his SPS tank due to moving. Found him on RC in the "for sale" forums awhile ago.

Best place to get live rock is from a disgusted, disgruntled, getting out of the hobby reefer.

Its a 29g AGA. 30x12x18. I have it filled up with about 20g of water. The rest is for flood insurance if the power goes out.

Havnt added anything else yet. Other expenses have been coming up that I have to deal with first. Tank is doing great though, rocks are almost algae free after the huge algae bloom I got a few weeks ago.

One thing I am doing though is slowly removing the sandbed. With the vortech pump at full blast, the sand gets blown around and gets very annoying. I also want another vortech sometime for even more flow, so I decided to just remove the sandbed. Im slowly removing it every 3-4 days.

What kinda cleanup crew you got going?

I wish I had as much luck with the vortech as you!

Well maybe not complete BB. But as much sand as I can get out without moving anything. There will still be some sand inbetween the rocks and in the back of the tank.

As for cleaning crew, I have 30 hermit crabs, 5 turbo snails. Im gunna pick up another 7-10 turbos soon. I love turbo snails, they do a great job on algae, they dont get eaten by hermit crabs (to large) and they can flip themselves over when needed. Yes they can bulldozen unmounted frags but everything will but glued to the rocks in my tank.

Yeah the vortech has been great to me. Zero issues at all and forget its even there at times .

Hey sub, do you have the Vortech? What kind of issues have you had? I'm still seeking first hand opinions.

S3al:
I'm waiting for your list of Coral buddy. I'm stocking my tank with Coral now. Just some red mushrooms right now (Favia sp. - I think)

BTW, I setup my Deltec MCE600 a couple of days ago. The thing is cranking out skimmate... and it has not fully broken in yet. More gunk than my old Won skimmer put out in a month.
