Started my 75 gal bow front up last week. Doing great but still learning. Need all yall's help to be successful! Had fresh water for 35 years. Wanted to try saltwater. Fish and coral are so beautiful. Patiently waiting for it to cycle!!

Back in the hobby after a 2 year hiatus. Just setup a 30 JBJ rimless and it is currently cycling.

Equipment includes:
AI prime HD
Updated return and replaced with 1 sicce.
Esshop nano skimmer (works well but trying to get rid of micro bubbles)
Also ordered InTank replacements for the overflow boxes will run Refugium in one of the chambers
Tunze nano ATO
MP10 (will be updating driver to QD)
1 BRS dosing pump (will setup once I have corals)

Can't wait to see how this tank works out for me.

Have ran a small 125l juwel for 12 years. Now have a 2nd hand 360 clearseal that id like to convert to marine.

Hi everybody. Came to learn. I've had saltwater years ago (29g, 90g - fish only), but getting back to it with a 75g, this time doing a reef.

So far, we've only got live rock, a couple clowns, an emperor angel, a puffer and a royal urchin.

Some of the live rock we got had purple coralline on it, but the urchin is making sure it won't be there for long.

I have been a reader for some time now and would like to introduce myself.
My son started a reef tank four years ago, but shortly after he discover girls. Naturally I took over his responsible. LOL! My wife and enjoyed looking at the tank, so much I stated stock it with corals and fish from my monthly business trips to Orange County. They have some really nice stores there.
The tanks maintenance schedule over the past four years has been little to none. Maybe a five gallon water change bimonthly. Never once has the water ever been tested other than salinity at water changes. I just never had the interest learning how and besides the tank was doing ok.
The tank size is 29 gallons. We have a 20 gallon sump with a Corallife skimmer. Over the tank we have a Reef Breeders 24. The tank is home for a Yellow Tang, two clown fish and a Blenny. We also have 10 to 15 snails, 2 peppermint shrimp, a cleaner shrimp plus a newly discovered emerald crab. Grrrrrr! There is a mixture of corals throughout the tank.
Back six months ago my wife said” I hate the light hanging from the wall above the tank.” “Can you do something about that?” Like I said, “I like the tank”, but I never wanted to invest much time.
I have the means and skills needed to build a canopy, but the timing was not right. I scanned craigslist for several months and never found anything that fit my wife’s likings, so I bought a bigger tank! Ok, not that big only 55 gallons.
I purchased a used cabinet and canopy which I rebuilt and a new glass tank and sump. In the meantime our current tank had a Dino break out. Sure, as soon as I take a giant step into the hobby the tank starts having issues. Thank goodness for Reef Central. With the information I gained from the community my tank recovered and has never looked better. I performed a three day black out, turned my skimmer off and add pods. The tank had been doing great for three weeks, but over the last week my hard corals are showing major stress and strings are again starting to appear. I will post under another heading to seek some guidance. I guess it is time for me to learn how to test the parameters of my tank?

My favorite fish I have ever had was a cow fish. But now i am just wanting to keep things small and peaceful... And affordable. I have a 29 gallon tank that I am trying to set up for sea horses. So new for a second time to the hobby new first time here.

Hello everyone! Taking care of saltwater tank is very new to me and I want to revive a neglected saltwater aquarium in our office. I got hired last year and they have a saltwater aquarium that has been neglected for probably more than a year because our boss who used to take care of it now live in Singapore and would visit here from time to time. I don't know the size but it was quite big, I think. It has a live rock, clownfish and a snail. There used to be other snail and starfish but they died a few months ago. The aquarium have a complete equipment (I think, I will post pictures soon) and our office is willing to pay for things that I will need to buy in reviving and maintaining the aquarium.

For now I was just feeding the clownfish and looking out for the snail (sometimes it can't remove itself from the algae, I remove the algae on the sand by hand, the live rock got a lot of it too and it has white worm on it, feather dusters).

Hey, im a newbie in this hobby. Im from Southport, UK and i've been keeping a small tank for about 7 months.
Im about to upgrade to a larger nano for the mean time (until i can convince my other half to allow me to get the redsea reefer450 haha).

I currently have:
A black ice snowflake clown
A ruby trimma goby
Skunk cleaner shrimp
Utter chaos zoanthids
And a branching hammer.
And a few various snails and scarlet hermits.

My my children love the tank and i hope to educate them on just how important nature is to us all!

Hey everyone im pretty new to the hobby i use to live in Nc where i had a buddy down the street that knew alot about reefing so he helped me set up a 30 gallon. long story short im out of the military and now im back in ohio.

i recently decided to start a new adventure and set up a 60 gallon cycled the tank and now i have my second set of clowns from a reputable store. my first set i got from store that just started got clown fish diseases and we all know how that goes when you are know to reefing.

Hello, I'm new here

Coming back to reefing after a brief stint 10 years ago. I plan to take my time and build my dream tank - this might be a two year journey, I am sorry no pretty pictures yet. Approx 480 gallon.
96W x 32H x 36D.

It will be located in the basement (which I am just finishing) in a room that is 10' x 15', but I will split the room to 10' x 7' for the tank/sump/RO/DI. Plan to have an air exchanger in the room.
I want to use ghost overflow's, will have a sump, skimmer, perhaps a refugium. I'll be stealing some ideas from this - but plan to be more cost effective:

Tank will be a reef/fish tank and at this point, trying to get the right equipment in place.

For now, I'm only at the framing the basement and building the stand and main tank stage.

Hello all. Received a Red Sea 450 as a gift for christmas and am enjoying the hobby very much so far. Cycled the tank with 100lbs of live rock and started to add creatures once I thought the tank had cycled. Started with a couple of tank raised Percula clowns and let them be for a while. They did and are still doing great. Bought a yellow tank which made it almost exactly 24 hrs. My LFS tested my water and found my ph was low which suprised my as I had mistakenly thought freshly made SW would have had pretty good PH.....I did not acount for my RO water being super soft. Wish I would have known and saved the poor Tang. Now getting around to my curent quandry. My ammonia is undetectable. My nitrite is also almost undetectable. My Nitrate is around 5-7 ppm. I'm dealing with a pretty substantial brown algae bloom. Nitrates are detectable but not sky high. I have a softball size piece of chaetomorpha in the sump. My ph is now good and i think my lights are good AI hydra 26s x 3. My question is am I missing something or sweating sometbing that is normal? I would like any input and will answer any followon questions

Greetings. I obtained a 155 gallon tank through the purchase of a new house, previous owners left it as part of the purchase. Didn't know what I was getting myself into, as I've never had a saltwater tank before. The tank was and is running fine with 9 fish in it, and I've spent hours learning at the details and work involved with a tank, but still have a LONG way to go. I've added a small army of cleanup crew (tank did not have any) and I'm planning on replacing current rock (coral boulders, came w/ tank) with Pukani dry rock (being shipped as I type) after it cures. Then add some corals, and replace the filtration system as it's all old. Replaced the old LED lights with AI Hydra's. This forum (along with youtube and other sources) has already been a great help in getting me the knowledge I need in a short amount of time. Like drinking from a fire hose.
