Yeah... now I just need to get them hung.

I'm hoping to drive out to borrow the PAR meter tomorrow.

Haha... I hear that. I'll be on later tonight/early this morning. Most days I usually get on around midnight and play for a few hours before hitting the sack.

Well I'll be on midnight tonight my time (9am your time), but I picked up DJ Hero today, so that is most likely what I'll be playing

Stopped over to check on the tank today and was pretty disappointed. We had an extended power outage last week (I was unable to get to the tank), and it looks like I lost my 3 Bartlett Anthias during the outage. Also, a few small coral frags look to be suffering, and my protein skimmer is STILL acting up and giving me spotty results at best.

Overall the tank still looks great, I'm just pretty upset about some of the recent developments... because I feel that most/if not all would have been able to have been avoided if I was around the tank on a daily basis.

Good news is that I should be starting a new job soon, and am waiting to hear back this week regarding some final details. Once that's all wrapped up, I'll be moving the tank over to my current residence.

Glad to see the water params checked out. I think it's time to recalibrate my pH probe though, and will hopefully get around to that tomorrow as well as performing some much needed maintenance and a 20% water change.

Wow it's been a little while since my last post. Wish I had a good update, but I'm still in damage control mode right now.

My total fish loss (which I attribute the the power outage) was 3 Bartlett Anthias and my Eibli Mimic Tang. So now my remaining fish list looks like this:

4 Green Chromis
1 Midas Blenny
1 Bangaii Cardinal
1 Mystery Wrasse
2 Yasha Hase White Ray Shrimpgobies

The tank looks so empty now.

Vodka/Bacteria dosing has been suspended until I can figure out what is wrong with my skimmer. I plan on calling Marine Solutions so I can hopefully get to the bottom of this problem which has been creating issues for about the past month or two. The skimmer will work fine for a few hours, I'll leave... then return the following day to the skimmer body only about half full of water. Hopefully some replacement parts is all it will take.

Also, my tank is currently Barebottom!

Once I suspended my Vodka/Bacteria dosing, I had a serious cyanobacteria outbreak across my sandbed. Rather than deal with it, I just sucked the entire sandbed out. I was planning on swapping it out soon anyway. However, I'm not sure if I'm going to replace it now. The BB look is beginning to grow on me. Plus, the tank is so full of rock, coral, and clams that you really can't see the bottom anyway.

I have some more minor maintenance to perform tomorrow, then I plan on doing some PAR testing and hopefully finally getting my Lumen Max Elite Pendants hung over the tank. Part of that maintenance will include nuking a bunch of aiptasia that seems to have begun popping up out of nowhere. Once again... I'm never using wet live rock again when I start a tank!!!

On a side note, when I was sucking out the sandbed I found out that my Tiger Tail Cucumber has split, and I have at least 2 in the tank now. Obviously if I end up staying BB I'll have to rehome them.

Hopefully I'll have some good news and pictures tomorrow.

That really sucks about the Tang. Losing big fish always hurts the worst because they add so much personality to the tank.

Happy New Year T.J. and to all of my "RC Buddies"!

I hope everyone has a good 2010 and that the activity on RC highlights some shining tanks!

Kara and I have stated our Hobby New Year's Resolutions...hopefully our activities will inspire others to do the same.

Chris

Took some pics tonight to show the current status of the tank. My skimmer crapped out again, so I finally pulled the trigger and removed it (not like it's been doing anything for the past month or two anyway), and and am hoping to borrow a loaner one from a local club member until I can get in touch with Marine Solutions and get the problem fixed.

I'm also hoping to replace the sandbed soon as well, and plan on doing another 1/2" sandbed of Carib Sea Fiji Pink.
FTS

Some more pics:

It almost looks like a reef from this angle.

Luckily my corals all have been doing well, and have continued to grow throughout the skimmer problems. Not that surprised that the Chalices are enjoying the "dirtier" water. The Miami Hurricane especially has been posting impressive growth (for a chalice).

I need to find somewhere to get them mounted though, because they're hidden out of sight on the frag rack in the back of the tank.

30k Lokani.

Rommel's Rainbow Acro... Showing some growth tips at the base, but has FINALLY began to show some hints of the vibrant colors that will hopefully continue to improve as it matures.
