The only issue I see with that approach is that you are still limited on what you can do in the stand. Sure it might not be idea but you can hide an ATO container elsewhere and just have tubing coming to the sump/tank.
If you are planning on running items like the spyglass reactor that sit in sump then less of an issue but something to keep in mind as you think of all of the equipment and such you plan to keep in your stand...

Nice thanks!
My major concern is my custom stand. It has no center support in front. I'm not an engineer, but it held my previous 120 just fine. That did have trim on it. I'm wondering if I build a bottom out of doubled up 3/4" plywood, so 1 1/2" thick, would that suffice? Stand has otherwise open top and supported previous stand around the bottom trim. Can't really take a good picture because the old tank is still on it.

These tanks dont have bottom trim and you will need to sheet off the top of the stand so the tank has a flat surface to sit on.

Yes, that's the plan. I'm not sure how much support it will need that sheet. Will it need a center brace you think? Either under the flat piece front to back, or as a front center post?
....perhaps best to call Steve lol... Will give it an hour.

Depending on how it is built it will not need the front center brace BUT I would put a center brace under the sheet you lay for the tank to sit on. I would personally be fine with a 1/2" plywood though spend the couple bucks more for the nicer quality without the imperfections of the cheap stuff. Sure the foam mat the tank sits on will help but personally I like to ensure the "subfloor" if you will is worthy as well. $10 in wood is worth it for the thousands sitting on it.
If you want to swap out stands to one from SC you wont be disappointed. And really not that expensive all things considered. Though I am sure your current stand perfectly matches the decor you have so I would try to salvage myself.

Talked to him. Questions answered...can build platform for my existing tank (which I will brace front to back) out of3/4" ply. Foam pad comes with the tank apparently. That information may already be in this thread.
Will be ordering next week. Thanks!

I am using the standard clamps provided with my 66g. However, they seem to be rusting rather fast. Any suggestions for replacement clamps?
Also, it seems that my plumbing was flawed. I left too much space between the point where the PVC overflow pipe ends and my sumps water level. Its noisy and splashes too much. I don't want to glue more PVC to this and would rather clamp some vinyl tubing at the end. Would a piece of 1.5 inch vinyl tubing clamped to the PVC work?

You could get a coupler and just slide another section of pipe on it. You don't have to glue it.

Exactly. Coupler and more pipe.
As for clamps look at the plastic ones brs sells. I hate the screw clamps for these reas9ns and only use the plastic pinch clamps now Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

I think you have the 50g cube with the PH2500 pump. My drain is only 8" high from the bulkhead and there is a drop from my overflow but mine is not loud at all. As the pump is not super strong. I wonder how come yours is gushing down the overflow and mine is not? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk |

Has anybody ever run their system without the Overflow. I'm waiting on parts but could probably get the tank going with existing livestock. Any input. The tank itself should hold water and the Overflow be dry is that correct?

so long as you fill to a lower level then overflow teeth yes it will hold water. but you will need water movement in there to churn O2. I would personally leave in old tank till you are ready personally...

Those blue 55 gallon drums were a great deal and the place I got them from triple washes and sanitizes. Try as I might I could not smell anything in them. I did also wash them myself.

Who is the source of the 55's? Do they ship the containers or you have to pick them up...

Not sure if they ship outside of Texas, but I did see other places that do in my searching. It appears there is a bit of a market for used barrels and containers. TT&B has a contract with a juice place, so it was only ever juice in the barrels, not ink or oil or something like that. If you are in TX they have multiple locations within a drive. Their service is excellent and I am very happy with my barrels.

I've had multiple comments that go like this "You paid $80 for a container" which I reply I sure did.... And I would do it again. I took a marker and wrote over the gallon markings on the container for better visibility. The pvc and 90 on the right o the ball valve is not glued in. I didn't want it sticking out any further and risk someone walking into it and snapping it off.

YES!! my tank delivered today successfully - with one little error- they forgot to put any trim on the inside of the custom canopy - so it fits over the tank and does not sit "on" the tank. Steve is already on it and sending me the trim.
