Just picked up a Geo 420 media reactor with a MJ1200 to try this. Any idea what the main ingredient is in these things?

quick question: and sorry if it's been asked already. The chamber in my sump that my feed pump suplies water from is the same chamber that my overflow drains into. So there are a lot of bubbles. But I like that the water is being fed strait from the overflow. So my question is: is it bad that there are bubles "oxygenating" the biopellets? If it's a probem I can move the pump.

Man the slimy snot algae is terrible in my tank after adding these 5-6 weeks ago. Running 500ml in phosban reactor using MK1200. Pellets are moving freely. What gives my po4 is .02 per hanna and zero trates?????????? Thinking of slowing the flow on them next. I have 70 total gallons.. Water quality is good redox at 389 and all params rock solid...

Algae on Glass
Been running pellets for around 3 months.
Nitrates around 2. Haven't checked Phosphates. Any reason I have to clean my glass every other day? Which causes Algae on glass? Phos or Nitrates? When I was dosing Vodka, I would clean every 4-5 days. Anyone else have similar experience? Thanks |

Looks like they are starting to get the new reactors in stock. Hopefully within a week or so they will have pricing on them. |

Here is the one I picked up from GEO. Will this hold the larger bag of pellets?
This thing is sweet. Twist lock top. I told him I wanted to set it up directly in my sump and this is what I ended up with. http://geosreef.com/UMC418.html

Well the larger bag is one liter, and add about another 50% for the volume used when the pellets are suspended. So if your will hold 1.5 liter or more it should be plenty big. |

Looks like a great reactor for the pellets. Is that a MJ 1200? If it is, its only rated as 295gph. It may not be enough to push and tumble 1000ml of BP.

I have an Eheim 1250 I could use if it does not work. As far as the reactor is concerned, I have had lesser quality branded stuff that was difficult to seal and leaked more than one occasion, without going into any names, but between the twist lock top, the quality and weight of material and the fact that I have never had any of the GEO products leak, its worth it. Lets face it, if it takes too much time to do, or is difficult to clean, it wil not get done as often so the twist lock tops are great for me. I have little to no time to spend cleaning things.

Hi
I have 8L of biopellet, but I think the flow wasn't fast enough. Can I just raise the flow slowly ? Because I read it could be dangerous if anaerobic bacteria built up due to lack of movement, which I think is my case. What would you guys suggest to do ? and what will be the safest ? Thanks

I think I used 300-400 ml of BP. I was wondering if I need to add more if nitrate and phosphate doesn't drop? or it will use require time for the BP to work?

Hi, I`ve placed 2 days ago 1liter of biopellets in my 105 gallon tank in a Shuran multifilter 100 (has a feed pump aquabee up1000). the pellets move very slowly at the bottom but there is hardly any movment on top.
The skimmer went crazzy the first 24hrs it looks to be stabilizing now. What I am conserned is that my water today is a bit clowdy. Kind of milky looking. I had the water looking realy clear a couple of hours after introducing the pellets. I am a bit conserned about this sudent change. Did anyone have a simmilar problem? Another doubt is can some of these pellets be removed and dried and reused latter?

I think this is why people say you can`t overdose these pellets.

Eventually that will be the case.
The manufacturer posted this as a known issue under specific conditions. If I recall correctly, it was attributed to higher nitrate levels when starting to use the pellets. |
