I think having a wider opening in front would give more of the sense of depth to the scape. Great job though. That is my only critique.
Thanks, name is a song by Tool. I widened it but not sure about it. you can see the dust on the cardboard where it moved from. I added a old coke can for size reference.

It's hard to scape the right way you know? I want to add the points and peaks to make it interesting but that doesn't leave room for the coral to do that. I originally had a big shelf on the right side but I can put a monti cap there instead so I removed it.

Thanks, and I shortened the right side and moved it back too. I might like it better but I'll have to look at it for a few days before I cement it.

I recently broke down my 180 and had the most beautiful aquascape. It was completely by accident. Now I can't get it right again. I pulled all the corals off and they are in the sand bed and some in the fuge right now. I am somewhat close to what I want but can't seem to avoid the rock pile look. Any tips? Water is a bit cloudy still but you get the idea.

Unique...I'm not sure I've seen an aquascape quite like yours...intriguing. I especially like the gradual slope you are using. The narrowing canyon gives the illusion of great depth.

You might consider getting everything off the sand and then angling your structure; maybe rotate it counter clockwise. Your structure looks pretty good but it is too balanced...evenly proportioned. I believe we create more beautiful structures when we use unbalanced, uneven ratios.

With the assistance of some Epo Putty and Marco's E-400 Cement here is what I have created thus far. Also used a wet saw to cut any necessary pieces.
Here is a link to more detailed photos. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...2467347&page=2

What do you think about this?

The tank is 112 inches long by 31 high. The rock walls on the sides are mostly already in place, the big monti with acro in the middle, and the clam in the foreground are in place. I photoshopped some corals around to give it some color. They aren't as pictured.

The two center rocks are not in place. I'm not sure if i like the positioning of them. I want an open center to give depth. The water is pasted/smeared to cover up the view straight through to the water heater and AC, but it will be covered by a curtain or other removable background so I can see in from the back when in the HVAC/fish room behind the tank.

Thoughts?

I think it looks pretty neat. Do you have corals on it yet?

Looks great; but I'd move the right rock structure to the right.

It lacks depth, it seems there's a background only but no midground/foreground. Or that maybe the photos.

This is a great article and exactly what I was looking for.

I am new hobbits and started setting up my tank. I got the live rocks yesterday and this article came in right in time.

I was wondering if I could get some advise to create a nice visual appealing landscape to support reefs, small fishes and invertebrates. For now I've just placed the live rocks in the tank and started thinking how to arrange them.

This is the dimension of my tank:
Red Sea MAX C-130
Compact 130 litres (34 gallons) fully featured REEF-SPEC system
Aquarium dimensions - Height/Width/Length - 510 x 484 x 584 mm (20” x 19” x 23”)

I attached a pic of my tank just the way it looks now.

Any ideas, tips or hints will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nice balance. What will you be keeping?

I like the second pic but would move the structure to about 1/3 of the horizontal space rather than the 1/4 position you now have it in.

Here is my first draft on my 30x30x20 cube, all from LR...

Kinda like it for a first draft, lots of crevices and place for corals

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated!

Dexter, your 'scape looks great, and is one of the best ones I have seen on this thread. I noticed that the rock on the left side of the tank has a vertical side closest to the glass. This will limit the amount of corals you can put on that side, and may cause the tank to look a little unbalanced once corals start growing in. I wonder if you could roll the rock, so the flat side is on the bottom? You may need to add another piece of rock to maintain the height of the structure, which is part of what makes it look so unique. Hope this helps.
