I don't think they make the xm10k in a 250 mogul base bulb anymore. I tried to find some last year and came up empty.

I think I would be willing to try the Hamilton 10K if I were in the market. I know I've been pleased with their 14K.

Hi again!
Now I light my tank only metal halide lamps XM 15000K and I like the light. But I'm still in doubt. I read that for the manifestation of all the ATP-coral colors you want to add T5 lamps. But I can not figure out how to arrange them with Lumenbright. Firstly LB bit large for my tank, secondly T5 must have much lower and they will overlap the light from the LBs. In addition, the framework will have to do, and I do not like such a cumbersome structure of the tank. I need advice what to do... PS: By the way, I have Lumatek ballasts and I did not like how Radium bulbs lights with them. Even in the "Super Lumen" mode I don't see any difference. With magnetic ballasts Vossloh Schwabe the light is much better! |

Just set an SC aquarium 50g cube with a Hamilton 250w 24" Cebu sun, with my low ceiling basement clearance I can only get the fixture 9" off the water.is this too close or will it work ok.

I also am looking for a suitable replacement for the XM 10K bulb - 250w mogul base. I can't find this bulb anywhere either. Is Hamilton the best bet in terms of color and PAR? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm going to go with two reefbrite XHOs for actinic supplements I think. My biggest concern is that I'll be using a lumenmax elite reflector inside of a "floating/hanging" canopy. The thing has to be mounted so high above the tank that I'm worried the actinics won't be effective that far away from the water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How high over the water would you mount a giesemann spectra on a tank that's 31.5" wide?

Anyone know if there is a difference between the radium and Hamilton 20k bulb?

They are different. Hamilton is more blue. Radium is more like a 14-15K look.

Yes, if the reflector is made for it. Most are not.

I just got my first MH fixture, the hamilton cebu sun 24" to go over my 93gal cube. I'm currently running a radion.
It will come with the m80 ballast, so I'll be getting a 20k radium. Question is: what do you guys recommend for the T5 combo? I'm thinking 2xATI Blue, 1xATI Purple plus, 1xATI coral plus?? I'm not sure if that combo is going to be too pink looking. Also: It looks like from what I've read the MH should only be on for 6 hours or so? Any reason for this, I've always used T5 and LEDs, with a photoperiod of like 8-10 hours. Thanks! |

I run my MH for 10 hours on/off. I use no T5 or other supplements since I would rather just spend the money on another halide bulb.
The 20K radium will no supplement, so you won't need to choose bulbs to change the look. I would choose bulbs to be in about the 20K range... so what you have is good. |

Questions about MH set up.
Going to re-setup my biocube 29. I have a old PFO 250 watt mh. It has 2 slots for 28 watt axnitc bulbs.
My question is how should I light cycle as its all or nothing. All 3 are on at once. Should I go with a 20k main bulb and what should i use for the axnitc. Any suggestions are much appreciated. I am going reef tank with this. Wyld |
