Hey Sam....or anyone
Would the 90 degree optics in this one http://www.aliexpress.com/store/3178...with-Lens.html work best for a 24" X 24" X20" cube? Thanks |

500 ma requires 3.2 Volts = 1.5 Watts 700 ma requires 3.5 Volts = 2.54 Watts 1,000 ma requires 4 Volts = 4 Watts (not recommended) The big difference between Bridglux and Cree LED's is that brifglux run a little hotter and produce slightly less light at the same Wattage. It is a heat to light conversion ratio. Also since they run a little hotter the life span is shorter if you do not have adequate cooling for the additional heat they generate.

Now they make it sound like you can select what LED's you want in it. If that is true then I would suggest a 1 to 1 to 1 ratio of neutral whites 5,000K, Blues, and Royal Blues.

I've been leaning towards the aquarium led ones there 160one year warranty only because they seem to have the best customer service but if this sam guy said there's was a 2 year warranty id be verrryyy curious

I read earlier that if your tank is over 24 inches deep you should diy a set. My tank is 180 gal 60*30*24. Im still seriously thinking about 3 or even 4 of these 120 watt fixtures. Just not sure which one and of im going to buy these for the price then im going to find the best price. Seems like alot of these are the exact same thing just selling from different people for different prices.

Best LED system for a 190 gal 6' tank? currently have two 250 watt MH with two 6' VHO bulbs. Should I go with at Rapid DIY or one of the Chinese units. I was thinking maybe two of the 48 count kits from Rapid or maybe two of the Chinese units.

I was stuck Either these or a Rapid 108LED kit. They both worked out to around the same cost, But im getting lazy as i get older, So im trying 3 of the 3w bridgelux black units first. If they turn out to be ****, Ill DIY.

Since Watts = Amps X Volts 0.63 Amps X 3.35 Volts = 2.11 Watts 0.63 Amps X 3.40 Volts = 2.14 Watts Now if you looking at total power used by a fixture with an innefecient driver you could have roughly 1 Watt used by the driver for every 2 watts of lighting. So you could have a 60 LED fixture using 180 Watts of electricity at the wall but only 128 Watts are applied to the LED's themselves. Then you have a precentage of the LED power converted to heat and the rest converted to light. This is why it is hard to judge fixtures other than with an unbiased testing source. Different LED's have different heat to light ratios Simular LED's oppereate differently at different power ranges. Different drivers have different amounts of power that they consume Different Fans use different amounts of power and create different levels of noise. Different Optics cause different levels of reflection, refraction, and diffusion. It is very possible to design and build two seperate LED systems that both use 120 Watts of power total. However with one using the most effecient design it could produce two or more times the actual light as the other unit.

Ok good to know, I took it a step further and source a few mean well(sp) drivers that would drive the fixtures just incase.

Led optics 101
Optics/lenses are used to focus led light to increase penetration
![]() Fixtures without optic lenses are operating at 120 degrees this is fine for tanks under 24" as the light spreads out For deeper penetration ![]() Optic lenses are used to focus the light beam... 90 degree being most common... 60 lenses are prone to cause beams so they need to be mixed in with other optics ( options you have with DIY kits ) |

Pardon the dumb question, but can a controller be used to have the intensity automatically change throughout the day, to simulate sunrise and sunset? Thanks!
