Show me your LPS dominated reeftanks! - Page 5

The tonga rock just doesn't show up in the pictures -- looks like a solid rock pile but it's not.

I got the Elegance in August -- we had a rough start together but when I finally put it in the right spot -- it got happy. The torch fell this week and I didn't have time to epoxy it so I stuck it in the sand at a distance I thought was far enough away from the Elegance. Wrong. Came home from work to find the Elegance withdrawn so I epoxied at 10 at night or something and the Elegance smiled!

Yes -- the coral on the left is a gorgonian - it's been in my tank from the start so about 15 months and it has grown about 3 inches! There's another one on the right but you can just barely see it -- it is one of the yellow gorgs.

I want to get some red and orange color in the tank for some contrast. I have lots of the brown, purple, green colors which look great in person!

very nice T-man.
How long have you had that goniporia. The most luck I have had with them is 10 months.

what do you have in mind for red and orange. I would like to get those colours in my tank also.
I have a nice pink button coral and just added some red Lord acans. Other then going to suncorals I'm stumped.
I am also stumped for some lps to put up high in the tank--close to the halides---any ideas?

hard to find--I've been looking all over here locally. You have that mid range in the tank.
Would it survive high up near my halides. I'm trying to get something colourfull like that that will tolerate alot of light.

I only have T5's and I am stumped. I have this platform rock up high and cannot figure out what to put there. I am thinking some of the colorful aussie acans and blastos. Some of them can take more light but you have to get the right ones. For lower down I was thinking of some palys and zoas to add some color. I guess most of the open brains etc want to be on the sand -- I have no sand real estate left. Dunno -- if you figure it out -- let me know! And yea -- nice tank T-man -- lots of space and very white sand!

The goniopora turns seven this year........no big secrets on husbandry, just try to keep them in an alternating current - direct linear flow is a slow death sentence. I have never "target" fed it either........just lucky I guess. TinMan

I replaced three power heads with the hydor Koralina's. They give a turbulant flow rather then linear. Would that be adequate enought to take another chance at goniopora?

That's one of the reasons why I got it. One of my LFS has all sorts of lighting combos on their tanks all next to each other so you can see the difference in each. Different kelvin and wattage on MH w/ VHO's, and the Solaris. They were running it very blue one day and had a frogspawn in the tank. It looked radioactive. Thanks for the link.
