Ok, your right.

I am willing to trade my H&S A250 for an Octopus NW200 or even the classic Red Sea. I am headed to the equipment trade/sale forum now. Enough of the those restless nights.

Don’t be so naive by thinking that European engines can’t compete with The Pride of US musclecars. Just because you don’t here about it doesn’t mean the better engine is not there. Remember, just like with aquarium products, it takes a while before the best of the German products reaches the states.

Example: Audi Q7 TDI
500 hp
738 ft-lbs torque
0 – 72 mph in 5.5 seconds
Did I mention that the vehicle weighs 5300+ lbs?

http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...-v-12-tdi.html

Audi won Le Mans with a similar engine in their R10 racecar. Not only did the car break all the single lap records at every race it competed in, because of its great fuel economy it can get 3 extra laps per tank full. Can you imagine how much whining the other factory competing teams were doing?

Now, back to Skimmers!

Since when does buying something require acceptance? Since you have pretty much a base E46 you must not be accepted.....???

LOL! I actually sold my Lexus and bought my dream car. I've wanted the NSX forever. I had a 2001 330I and it was an awesome car. Great handling, and just plain solid. I think we have officially hijacked this thread.

No Sh*t. I wasn't naive or addressing this point. My point was that not all 300 hp engines are not the same. This is pretty much your point without you saying it.

Would I race and beat that car? Of course not. Would I trade my car for an American car? of course not.

doubt it.... depends on the type of racing

My gues from the narrow front tires you have a drag car which yea..... you would beat me by a few seconds

however if you do the type of racing that I do I would beat you by more then a few seconds

nice, hood looks awsome. The blower was fun, but.. it was awful to drive on the street. Besides the 3mpg I had a huge Blind spot..and it was sooo loud..after I it got impounded I decided to build a dedicated race car and put the 69 back on the street.. So I swapped out the old style blower motor with lt1 setup for turbo/vortech.. I've always dug the semi sleeper look.

Haha... I'd rather have the bobcat than the Lexus.
You could make some sweet dirtjumps with that thing.

My wife prefers a manual so she can do burnouts easier! Its her car so i cant complain too much.

Mammoth,i actually couldnt see over it either,it gave me a headache driving the car,it looked damn good but was not practical.I Agree with the sleeper aspect as well.Once i get my turbo setup ill forget all about the hood.

Right on

Well, back to the topic @ Hand. BM250 Showed up today..

and my first impression is a bit mixed. (please note it still hasn't touched water yet)

1. It's small.. Looking at the pictures, and reading about it really thought it would be ALOT bigger then my current g3. The Collection cup hangs over so much of the neck it really impacts overhall height.. good for you guys with sumps under the tank.. not so great for guys like me with gaint 3'+ deep rk2 bins for sumps. The width is smaller then I thought as well, but that is my fault some how I thought the BM250 was a 12" skimmer body, but.. doing the math 250mm = little under 10"

2. Quality, it has a good weight to it, I like the collection cup seals under it's own wieght..but nothing really "locks" into place like the ASMS or Euros. Makes me wonder if it's going to leak after a while, or the pumps are gonna wiggle them selves out of the body.

3. The Pumps..Wow soo tiny, and the venturies are SOOO small. it's got these massive hoses going to the venturies, and then it chokes off to this tiny hole in a thick walled tube that then goes into the pump @ a right angle. Would have figured they would have drilled out the tube a little, maybe put it in @ a 45 degree angle..

The one thing that does irk me though..is whats with the ZIP ties holding the mesh wheel toghether.. come on.. Yea I know it's not a Bubble King but it's an 800$ Skimmer. I'm sorry zip ties are acceptable for DIY applications, and holding things together on your hot rod in conjuction with 200mph tape.. Not on the "BMW" of skimmers. Sooner or later those zip ties are going to strech, and mesh wheel pieces will be flying all over the place.

I do like the solid feel and how it fits together for the most part, and the design seems good. Once I get it in the water I'll update again.
