It's interesting looking over the pics here. Several different designs. Some have the inlet with a protein skimmer at 1 end, with some chaeto in the middle and the return pump on the end. Others have the return pump in the middle. I'm looking into setting up a sump for my tank. I don't have the space that some of you do here. That's going to be my biggest problem. Anyone else have any different designs?

Dan

I'll breathe some life into this with pics of my 92 corner sump later when I get home. Talk about a tank that's hard to build a sump for... geesh...

Here is my sump and fuge. I designed this to replace my wetdry filter..

Fuge

This was taken just after I completed the swap from the wetdry filter.

Thanks! I did the fuge and sump seperate so I could get them under the tank through the existing door openings. As far as the fuge design, the water enters front and is evenly distributed via the grates and travels evenly across the fuge and exits out the back though another set of grates. The whole idea behind the design was evenly distributed flow across the whole fuge.

Here is another shot of it when it was being built. This might give you a better idea of what I'm talking about with the grates.

Thanks a bunch! I'm sure we will do some sort of follow up on the LED's down the line though nothing is really planned at this moment.

anyone using a 32 gallon brut trash can for a sump.
my new skimmer is too tall to fit under my stand. i live in a single story apartment so it has to be there or near it. the skimmer needs to be in water so i was gonna use a brute can to sit it in
thoughts
corey

wow all of you have nice setups..puts me to shame and makes me feel ghetto lol...i just bought my house and on a huge budget now...my tank came with a wet/dry setup. I removed all the internals, installed my skimmer where the bio balls were, made a plexi glass wall just before my pump bulk heads and made that section into a fuge with lr and cheato plus a t5 light. cost of conversion =$0.00 all just things i had laying around. but my fish are healthy coral frags are growing and now have coraline finally starting to spread (sore the 20k 400watt mh helped as well)

Some of these are works of art themselves.
