Any of them will work but the oolitic you wont need to use as much of.

I'm a little lost, they all have a different description, which would you recommend?

Aragamax Oolitic Select Sand:0.5-1.02 mm grain size.

I use this one couse its fine enough for sandsifters (ie. gobys and the like) and will act as a DSB in as little as 2", but not fine enough it blows around in my little ten with its almost 1000gph of combined flow.

My Randals pistol shrimp and Yasha goby like it since it has some very tiny shells and rock rubble in it to help them build thier tunnels. Not alot but just enough to give them some building material without me haveing to add anything.

Ya I tried the first one when I setup my first tank and it just kept getting blown all over and made a mess.

Is there any other skimmer that you would recommend that is more affordable?
How about the Octopus 150?
This is rated up to 150gallons as opposed to the 100gallons the ASM G1 is rated at.
What do you think?

The Octo skimmers are great I ran a 110 for awhile and really liked it. I only sold it cause I got a great deal on a larger DAS external.

cool, so I'll go with the Octo 150 then...
Have you ever had any experience with a website named D&T aquarium supplies??
They have everything cheaper and it seems like a shady site.
any clue?

that's the only place I can find the Octo 150.
it's priced at 147 and then 18 for shipping so 165 total
do you know any other place that sells them?

oh and another question...
You mentioned I needed to get a 2" sand bed but according to the calculator it says I need 70lbs which makes it 3 bags of sand instead of 2. Will it matter if I just pour in all 90lbs of it or should I just buy 2 bags weighing 60lbs?
Thanks again

The power heads depends on what you want to keep usually around 30-50x turn over.

I'd get three bags cause you'll need some for the fuge as well.

I'm about to buy the Octo 150 Skimmer but it seems like there are 2 different ones and I'm not confusing it with the recirculating one. I think there is a new design??
http://www.aquacave.com/octopus-nw-1...immer-749.html
this one looks different from the others I've seen.
I've seen this one at other sites as well and it's also rated at 180 gallons which higher than the other one.
This is the other one:

Not realy I just have one of the 35 GPD RO only bare bones units from captive purity for my tiny tank.

Everyboy on here seems to recomend the larger units from buckeye field supply or the filter guys though.

BTW the octo skimmers aquacave have are the new units just found out.
