CoralKingdom, Jmadison,
Thanks for the info. I'll give them a call but It will probably have to buy the ballast. I've had my tank for about 2 years now. Oceanic's customer service is good. I had to replace both fans because of the noise and they sent me new ones at no charge. Thanks again. Chris |

They didnt even ask me about reciept or anyhting when my ballast went out. Granted it was in the first 3 months, but still they didn't ask.

I've been around here for a little while mostly just in the So Cal forums but this is my 14 Gal BC that has been up for a bout a year now. It has a 150W 20" Sunpod and a few other mods but nothing spectacular. Right now it is holding some SPS that are waiting on a move to my 70 so the scaping is a bit off.

Just thought i'd post a few pics of my work-in-progress biocube. I like to think of it as a biocube 'remix' because I've drilled it and added a sump among many other mods, some of which are yet to come. click the red house for more. thanks!
It will eventually (...hopefully) be an anemone tank with my rod's onyx clowns. I will also be adding a profilux and the AI LED module lights. this is how i do my water changes: fish: |

Nice, set up. hey does anyone have an Idea on why my eagle eyes look as if they are dieing. I don't know how to load pics. My water is perfect except that I am adding trace elements now and Iodine. They are in the same spot as for the lights and water current. Any suggestions? Thanks

how much of each are you using and how often? i also use kent coral vite and kent iodine but only in very small quantities, and by small i mean 10 drops per week. its not a good idea to use additives that cant be tested for.
thats not to say that the possibily of OD has anything to do with your eagle eye problem tho. i had a problem with 90% of my soft coral but did great with my sps. im pretty sure its because my system is completely nutrient starved. do you think that your system could be nurient difficient as well? just a thought. i'v been meaning to show pics of the filter floss i use, just in case somebody wanted to give it a try. its just some stuff that goes to a tunze filter that i cut to fit on top of the grate in chamber #2. the model number the way i cut it into the right sizeto fit the chamber and 18 weeks worth of disposable filter pads that cost like $2.50 or something? and here it is in action :P

hey guys i am about the join the biocube owners club with a new 14g. i am not liking the pc lights that come with the bio so i would like to know what i could do as an alternative without changing the stock look of the hood. i have a 150w mh retro, but i think that would cause major heat issues, so my other thought is led. what do you guys think. and could anyone with a modded 14g hood show me some pics of the changes you made. thanks.

Removed/sold hood. Bought 2x Current USA Nova Extreme 20" 2x20w T5HO fixture. 1 fixture isn't working at the moment. It's a fixture, no retro kit here. |

oh ok. do you think the current bulbs are short enough to fit in a retro in the stock hood. man if they did that would be sweet. but, they probably don't, right...crap. guess i will have to go led.

Thanks iFisch. Tank been setup for over a year now, two gallons water change every week or two. 70W Sunpod with 20K XM bulb, with four high power royal blue LEDs (I took out the original LEDs panel and replaced them with the royal blue). And everything that come with Biocube, including the bioballs.

I'm picking up a 14 gallon Bio Cube next week. Believe everything is still stock. The tank already has some live rock and sand, having been established for some time. Any advice for a new tank owner?

Upgrade stock return pump with a Maxijet 900/1200. Add a Koralia Nano/K1 for extra water movement. Remove bioballs, replace with some sort of phosphate removal and carbon. Add small clip-on fan found at Walmart for $10 to push a little cool air over the tank. And finally, add one of these heaters, either 50w-150w: http://www.aquacave.com/searchresult...CategoryID=635 |
