How often do you change your RO membrane. The manufacturer recommends every 6 months, but TDS going into the membrane is 65 or lower and 0 coming out with no change in the rejection rate so I'm thinking I'll save the $100 or so bucks for a new "select" membrane and use that money for other things...

It's my understanding that your RO membrane should last 2 to 3 years.
Here is a link to a thread that was started the other day which has some good information from Buckeye Field Supply regarding when filters, resins, membranes, etc... should be changed. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1643363

Tswifty, where did you get that awesome pinch valve that you're using on the Korallin?
Would one of these do the same job? http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pro...duct%5Fid=7345

I ordered it when I ordered the Needle Valve from US Plastics. I imagine the ones you posted would work just fine... probably give a little more control too. I just ordered a bunch of the cheap ones, and figured having extras on hand was a good idea. I was actually planning on using the needle valve I already had, and just switching it to the output of the reactor... similar to the way the Aquatic Systems Ca Reactor works, but when I pulled it offline something inside the valve was broken.
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pro...roduct_id=2622 Edit: If you decide to try out the pinch valves from the link above, make sure you don't order the 1/4" pinch valve ($0.14 each). I didn't read the description the first time, and didn't realize it was only for "ON or OFF" purposes.

j/k. ![]() Glad I could help, the Korallin was driving me insane for a few weeks there. It's so nice having it dialed in now, and not having to worry about fiddling with it every day anymore.

Nothing too exciting to report today. Just did some basic end of the week maintenance tasks which included... turkey basting the sand, cleaning the acrylic, performing a 5 gallon water change (ran out of Coralife... so I had to use buffered Instant Ocean), refilling the ATO reservoir, pruning back the Cheatomorpha a little, cleaning inside the skimmer neck and body, and changing out the carbon in my TLF reactor.
All FUN stuff! ![]() ![]() Anyway... here is a picture I snapped of the Cheatomorpha now that it's growth has taken off. It actually died back at one point to about the size of a softball, and I was worried I was going to lose it completely. ![]() ![]()
