I'm looking at the ai nano vs the regular sol on a 18x18x 16h tank too. Alittle concerned on coverage from such a small beam. Wondering if sps would grow unnaturally towards the point source or do you think the spread of light is wide enough where the coral would grow more natural? Btw how is the light spill over if any?

I just asked Justin at aqua illuminations today this is what he said
I said I was getting a 25 gallon but how high could I go and support sps. Not a problem at all. To be honest, We have had a Nano over a 50G (24x24x20) with LPS, Clams, and Softies and everything was thriving. We of course custom mounted this so that it was centered at roughly 8-10" of the water line. If you can do this, I would say go for it. Just a note though that we did not have SPS in this tank. Have a great day! Best Regards, Justin AI

Sorry, one more question if you don't mind How hard was it to drill the holes for the overflow? Did it ever feel like the glass was going to crack?

I love the set up and am thinking of doing the same thing in my office. Where did you buy the tank (online, local)? Also, you mentioned being nervous about jumpers. Have you looked into tops for it anywhere or do you know if it is even an option?

Do you know how tall your stand is? Do you feel it is at a good viewing height? I am trying to track down a stand for a tank like yours and have been looking at night stands as an option, but they seem to all be around 24 - 26" tall and that seems a little low.

One more question, if you don't mind answering. Do you feel that the nano produces a sufficient amount of light to cover the tank? My nano is coming tomorrow but I have yet to order the tank. Just can't seem to decide on the dimensions of it. Thanks for the answers, mic. I appreciate it.

Got a new skimmer today SC65 cone skimmer, I wanted to see what all the hype is about, hopefully it outperforms the reefoctopus.
