Personally, when my kit shows up I'll not have a clue where to start or what to do so I'll be looking for some guidance from the community.

Wooot! They said they have 80 degree lenses coming in. I am super impressed that they offered me those in my invoice. Like they read my mind. Getting super stoked about my diy project now.

One more housekeeping item - hopefully will be the last: There is one caveat to the discount. All orders need to be paid for. Right now we have one guy who is unresponsive - I don't foresee an issue but I wanted to make sure we had full disclosure of that material fact. Happy fourth everyone and from my family to yours: Happy Independence Day - enjoy blowing s*** up

So who from this group buy will be posting a build thread? Just curious because it would be neat to see what everyone else did with their LED's. I am still waiting for some parts to arrive but I am excited to get to work.

Yeah it was from this group buy. My roommate and I both do low voltage work and I've done a lot of soldering and tinkering with electronics in the past so I have a lot of experience from that. Not to mention this is the 2nd LED build I've done.
Basically I got my LEDs in and screwed the heatsinks together with the strip, then the next day made the box and stained it, then the day after I soldered everything... literally took all day to do that. At that point it was 99% done. All I was waiting for was my adapter for the 3 fans which I got today. |

King Nikon - I'm very impressed with how quickly you worked on your fixture.
I'm building my own controller for the LEDs. Got all the parts and am just waiting for the PCBs to come in (ordered from China) before getting started. Following the instructions on the DIY thread: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1847680 Going to build two - one for my new tank build, and another for my nano. Think I'm going to go with an LED/T5 combo fixture, but will take my time with my build. going to concentrate on building the controller first! |

Yeah I would have gotten mine last Friday but the USPS guy never came to my door(all I got was a "sorry we missed you card... in my mailbox"), so I had to go pick it up Saturday.

Just shoot them an e-mail and they'll provide you with tracking information. I emailed them at 11p at night and I got a response 10 minutes later.
They have excellent customer service. |

Mike informed me today that there was one outstanding order needing to be shipped, I'm assuming that is your order - he seems aware of it, but feel free to email. Overall our gb has gone off without a hitch with only one person unresponsive/doa. They (rapid) are happy as, it sounds like, are we. Please continue to contact RAPIDLED throughout the construction process for advice. Happy Reefing. oh, and with the lack of mechanical skill within my body, most likely my build will wind up as an abstract piece of metal work before it will ever be a lighting system - so please keep the build discussions going
