I LOVE this project!! The closet idea AND the way you executed it is fantastic!
I'll definitely keep this idea in my memory bank for the future. Tank is looking marvelous as well, very nice work all around! This build makes me happy, haha. |

Thanks guys........Well the Ca reactor arrived. As usual it was packed extremely well. I have read good reviews on the TLF's Reborn media so I am going to give it a try. I am also adding about 5% of Zeomag on top of the Reborn to help keep the Mag parameters up.

Here is a quick pic of the reactor set up in the closet. It is not up and running yet. I will post some higher quality photos when I crank it up later this week.

I finally have the CA reactor up and running. It is DEAD silient. I have the effluent at 6.4 ph. I will monitor the parameters and adjust them from there. I am running some Zeomag in the top of the reactor for magnesium. You can see the small white pellets above the Reborn media. I used a Vertex magnetic line holder to hold the effluent line in the sump. Here are some more pics.

It appears I have the CA reactor dialed in for now. Running the reactor at 6.43 PH, bubble count 40/pm and dripping about 50 ml/m of effluent. Alk is holding at 8.7, CA is at 430 and the MAg is at 1400. All the inhabitants seem happy. Ill leave it alone for a while and keep testing. FYI I am using the TLF Reborn media along with some Zeomag.

Nice set up. Life Reef is the best. I have his sump and protein skimmer and they are perfect. I currently have his calcium reactor on order. I can't wait. Can't stand the constant adjustments on my current one.

Any updates and pictures for this tank? I am looking to place an order with Reef Savvy for a 48x24x24 rimless.
Thanks! |

Not too much going on with the tank. I had a return pump failure while I was out of town which was a small disaster. I lost some corals and fish but I only have myself to blame for going cheap (Panworld) JUNK! I upgraded to the Iwaki 55 and also the new Maxspect gyre. I want to simplify the system so I am removing Two Tunze 6055's and my CA reactor pump. I am running the reactor off the Iwaki. Between the increased return and the Maxspect I have more than enough flow with less pumps to maintain. I will talk more about the Maxspect and the system changes in an upcoming post. Here is a quick FTS. The jury is still out but LED lighting with SPS so far for me has been a bust. I love the Reef Savvy tank. You cannot beat their quality.
