At first, I thought this was a ton of work dedicated to a 40 gal, but this is a spectacular tank. Congrats on a beautiful tank and project. I can't wait for me and my fiance to buy a house so I can do a creative project

Unfortunately back in august we had the power go out for a few days, i had a generator but was at work when it happened so the pumps werent on for 8 hours or so. nothing died right away but the tank would not stabilize no matter what i would do. All of my corals started to RTN from the base up very slowly. i tried to save them and all i could save was the zoanthids. then a few weeks before thanksgiving i moved the tank to the basement for temporary while we got new flooring in the house and i turned on the top off water and forgot about it. it ran for about 6 hours and turned my tank into a freshwater tank and killed the rest of the coral. I was able to save a few fish. i picked up a 60 cube deep blue with corner overflow and just got the stand stained and my rock work epoxied together. So i will be starting a new thread. i was sick to my stomach to lose everything i had in this tank. so for the new one there will be automation and battery backups and a basement sump with the tank upstairs

Terrible news! I have been lurking on this thread since you started. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure your next tank will be just as awesome.
