Little update, went to Vegas for a little fun over the weekend. 40K tournament, such a blast. Anyway, my flight back on Monday got cancelled due to heavy snow and ice in Seattle. Here's the kicker, the same snow buildup caused a power outage in our neighborhood. Of course, when out of town...
Luckily, my wife and kids were home. Just recently purchased a generator, they scrambled to unpack and get it running. With some timely help from a neighbor had it running in 4 hours. Power comes on, 30 minutes after. Very proud they did all that under emergency conditions. My older daughter, stepped up to challenge and helped lead the family regarding the tank. So I had two QT's going, told them to make things simpler and add the royal gramma along with two orange skunk clowns to the main DT. Other QT was in a marine cooler, not as worried about a temperature drop. Anyway, she kept the water aerated well and everything except for a recent addition of coral banded shrimp survived. Skunks settled into a LTA and the Haddoni, while for the most part leaving the original clowns alone in the Mag. Pics incoming.

Also setup the second xf 280, one wasn't enough for good flow for the entire tank. Two, working great. No more dead spots.

So after a little leak issue couple weeks ago, got everything back on track. Weight of water and plumbing pulled apart the overflow box. Water alarm saved my booty. Back on track with the 3 Tangs from QT transferred over today. Larry Moe and Curly enjoying their new home. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

My family was about to kill me, happened at 4:00 am. Let's just say stronger than ever. Building a wood support for the overflow. Pain drying everything.
Survived a power outage and a leak. What's next.

Sure, why not apocalyptic events for the hat trick.
So two pairs of clowns. Osc have started laying eggs again, first time since the move in Sept. The orange skunks are nicely hosted by the LTA and Haddoni 6 ft away. 5 ft wasn't enough. Some fights would break out. Now everyone has been OK for a weeks. Just saying, don't try 2 pairs in four feet or less. The three yellow tangs were very small when ordered, about 2 inches. After the first couple weeks, zero aggression issues, introduced together. Fattened up nicely. In the main DT, Larry, Moe and Curly seem to stick together for now. Even slept near each other. Wonder if they become more feisty once bigger?

Update time! Glad to report, everything's been fairly smooth.(Knock on wood.)
Started to expand the corals, birthday time. Keeping it short and sweet, photo time. See post below, aborted photobucket.

So my daughter noticed something new in the tank. Good number of brine shrimp swimming in the corners. I added some eggs to the sump back in March trying to feed a Copperband. Really surprised to see them take hatch and grow. Good size.

So have an issue, major growth explosion in my tank. Having issues keeping up with max kalk top off and dosing two part. Hard coral propagating everywhere, the one with the green and pink tips in the photo above.
Figure need of a large calcium reactor. Thinking of a Geo CR818, am I going down the right path?

OK, holding off the reactor until prolly black friday but....
We got tired of the old half-assed sump with issues and just ordered a new custom 125g acrylic. Now the wait... Also, adding a Vectra L1 return pump. After some cruise control reefing, time for fixing things up again.
