Quote:
"Blacktip Reef Sharks are often the bycatch from other fisheries and are often caught and wasted. The Blacktip populations are declining, and so are the population of many other shark species. These sharks are used for Shark fin soup, in which a shark's fin is cut off and the rest of the shark is thrown into the water to die. This is done by the thousands, which may be a big factor in why the population is declining. The numbers of Blacktip Reef Sharks have declined in recent years." As stated at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacktip_Reef_Shark I sure hope someone qualified and has experience with requiem sharks will be taking care of them. Maybe then they'll have a chance to reproduce. Seems like other choices would have been more ethical. |

IM sure that we all know what shark fin soup is.
Also, most fish tend not to reproduce in captivity, and if they did, I am sure that this owned "Who is very well off" would donate them to an aquarium. They are always looking for something like this and take in donations. I don't see where it is saying they are threatened species, And wheres the BAN STICK....

Is this the same tank?
http://groups.msn.com/TheSharkTank/home.htm its from a guy on another board ... the tanks are pretty simaler. Both "wall tanks" and he keeps 2 black tips aswell He also stated that the black tips would outgrow the tank and he would need to upgrade or build a shark pond for all those who were harping about it. |
