My first controller did the same thing, the second one was alright but if you go from manual to easy setup it will still lose programming. They sent me a third controller it's the same way.

a few days ago is the first time I had something "odd" happen. I have three AI vegas, and the center one "lost" its programming? I had to put all three in "find me" mode, and find them again. I didn't have to change my programming.. but still.. kinda annoying.

Hopefully I get selected for the beta

Hey guys, I just wanted to mention something. I don't know if I have missed it in any of the other posts. I purchased 1 vega for my 24x24 cube. From what I found it is supposed to cover that amount. Anyway, my intention was to hang the one vega with the hanging mount. I ordered the hanging kit, waited a week for it to come in and the threads on the wire connector are not long enough to clear the fins on the heat sink. I wasn't able to find any information saying that this wouldn't work. Moving forward, my idea was and I verified it with AI is to get a 6" EXT rail and cut it in half to allow for the wire connectors to the portions of the rail so I can hang it. I just wanted to bring attention to the fact that the hanging kit is not designed to work with only 1 light without modification. The rail is supposed to be here Monday so I will modify it and provide a video and some pics.

I made my own tilt mount for my 55 cube...4.5" off the water and very good light spread.

I have a vega arriving in 3 days and I'm trying to figure out settings and acclimation. I have 2x150w halides over my 75 gal tank. Softies are growing like wildfire; however, it's not quite cutting it for my LPS which are surviving, but not growing. I plan to place the vega over one half, at the same height as the current halide, and shift the two halides over the other half. I will potentially replace the other side later. Does anyone have any recommendations on starting intensity for acclimation? It sounds like everyone is starting low, and staying low. How far up should expect to acclimate to? How do I know if the corals are upset because lack of light... Or too much light?

Generally, browning means corals are not getting enough light and bleaching means light is too strong.

You don't mention having any sps, which are the hardest to acclimate. Keep an eye on the corals that are directly under the lights in the top half of the tank, those are most likely to get fried.

This firmware is compatible with the New Controller only.

Version 2.08 - 3/20/13

Fixes/Enhancements:

Running START NOW with lightning would cancel storms for the day.
Cloud cover would start and then immediately stop under certain conditions.
Support for the Sol to Vega Upgrade Kit.
Fixed fail-safe auto-dim down which would sometimes trigger erroneously.
Various minor bugs related to display issues, Setup Lights, and power-up.

I would like to see more people post their light level settings. Im still trying to find the right mix. I think I found it but my issue now is that during ramp up and down its soo blue without any other colors.... Is there a way to adjust this or do I have to wait for the director?

After Acclimation Period

I am curious what anyone with SPS max their color percentages at after their acclimation period is over.
Also..how long was your acclimation period?
I have been in acclimation mode since Dec 1..currently around 50% on blues and white at peak times. I have lots of SPS and I am also running 4 T5s as well.

Thanks

You can adjust your ramp up colors using the manual light settings. There are some posts on here regarding what others have used.
Personally..I use the Easy Timer setting with a 2 hour ramp up and down and am pretty happy with it. I can re-post my color percentages again if you like but I supplement with T5s so it would look different without them I would guess..

I run 3 vegas for a 48x36x24. They are mount 8"awl. I run them @100% for 5 hours with a 1 hour ramp up and down and run blues before and after. I do not know why so many peolpe run them at low intensity. I have sps 10" under the water line. Most of the sps are doing great in color and growth, a couple wont color up (prob not due to lights).

I do run clouds 4 times a day during peak hours. I think this gives the corals a break as they get in the wild.

I have noticed that there r def HOT spots. 1 coral can be doing good 10" under the light and then a few inches away another can get smoked. Getting my clubs par meter this week and I plan to do some testing and try and confirm my hot spot theory. I have seen it mentioned here before by others too..

I wonder if the couple that are not doing well are getting torched. You would think these would have bneen tested with a par meter during development..hopefully-

Before I purchased my Vega's--I read dozens of posts that claimed you can run them without a controller--but there is no way to adjust light intensity. Even the AI website claims they can work without the controller, but this was not the case for me. I ordered my Vega's from a different store than my controller because nobody seemed to have both items in stock at the same time.... My two Vega's arrived and would only go into demo mode (disco nightmare), I even performed a factory reset (red light) several times without any luck. I was able to get them to work after receiving the remote, linking the lights, and updating firmware.
What I suspect is these lights had been previously paired with another remote for testing?? and set to 0%.
