20 gallon QT

I would like:
blue and yellow tang neither will work as they need a larger tank
exquisite wrasse (concerned that it will jump out) 1/4 inch mess top will prevent that
yellow goby
Royal Gramma Basslet
Angel Fish - unsure if there are any that will work in a reef tank Most large angels require a larger tank, dwarf angels are not coral safe

Any information is appreciated.

46g bowfront w/ 10g sump.

Fish:
2 oscellaris clowns
Pink spotted goby
Four Spot Wrasse
Sixline Wrasse (a lot smaller than the 4spot and added after)
Mandarin
Dwarf Flame Angel

Everything seems to be getting along great.

Inverts:
Various hermits
Various snails
Fighting conch
Cleaner shrimp
Pistol shrimp (paired with pink spot goby)

How many more fish could I realistically add? And would you recommend I remove any?

Ok, so I was thinking of Stocking my new 40 gallon reef tank, there are no corals in it at the moment, I plan to get a pair of Ocelerios Clownfish and a Midas blenny. Will all of these fish Get along with eachother? Do they need a bigger tank? Thx in advance.

Mandarin will starve long term in this tank

I annotated some fish which will not survive long term in this sized tank

They should be fine.

Thank you! If I remove these fish (mandarin and dwarf flame angel) how many more could I potentially add? My stock would look like this: sixline, 4spot wrasse, pink spot goby, and 2 osc clowns.

With the "new" line up, fish behavior will limit tank mates. A six line and four line wrasse are both aggressive. Clownfish once sexually mature will also be aggressive.

Good afternoon,

I have a 30 gal tank I want to make into a reef tank. Currently cycling. I have dry pukani and Reefsaver from BRS. I have a reef octopus 1000 hob. I use a Eheim easy 60 pro canister. No sump. Vortech mp10, current orbit LEDs. This is what I am thinking.....

-clowns (ocellaris) possibly
-azure damsel
-blue dot jawfish
-fire fish
-flame angelfish
-lineatus fairy wrasse
-Midas blenny
-regal/hippo tang
-sergeant major damsel
-tiger watchman goby
- yellow tang
-cleaner shrimp of some sort and CUC.

Any combination of prob 5 fish at the max and one shrimp is what I am thinking. Not too sure who will live well with who and what order to introduce. Not sure where to go at all for corals and such...that's a huge world I need to dig into more. ! unless you have just a few personal startup suggestions. You have great knowledge of this! Thanks for your time and attention.

New Here and Everywhere

Hi All,
Came across this forum because I'm looking to get into the hobby. Bought a 10gal tank last year for the kids and I ended up enjoying it more than them so now looking for something a bit bigger. Went to a local place and checked out a 37gal Deep Blue tank. Like the size because it would fit perfect in the space we want to put it in the house (built in shelf).

After reading a few reviews seems like DB may not be the way to go. Looking for fresh water, but other than that I'm open to mfr of tank & equipment.

Any and all recommedations welcome - equipment, fish, etc.

Thanks in Advance

This board is all about salt water rather than fresh water; this particular thread is only about marine fish compatibility rather than equipment.

90g

90g corner overflow
2 X Jebao RW-8
720 gph return
160# SouthSeas dry rock (I like it), split between DT and sump
80# sand, mostly sugar fine
30g sump
Reef Octopus Classic 150 skimmer
165w full spectrum dual channel dimmable Chinese LEDs
DIY (BRS) screen top (highly recommend if you need a top, fast, cheap and very easy)

Will be SPS heavy mixed reef.

current fish: 1 X occ clown 1 X Kole tang

I would like a McCosker's flasher wrasse male. How many/which species of flashers can be mixed? Will the males flash at each other?

This is the limiting question on future stocking plans, would like a variety of wrasses, colorful, active fish.

Sorry if this out outside the focus of this thread, move/close if so.

Males across species lines will flash at other males. Of course they will also flash at females. Since flashers are prolific jumpers, you will need a 1/4 inch mesh top

No problem, quite within scope.

I doubt that you are large enough for two bubble tip anemones; pygmy cherub angel really need a somewhat larger, mature tank since they are algae grazers.

New setup

I have a 60 gal cube with center over flow with 15 gal sump with skimmer. I have 60 lbs live sand and @ 50lbs live rock. Tank is coming to end of cycle and I was wondering what type and how many clean up crew should I start with.
I plane on corals and a few fish down the road and not sure on initial stocking of tank.
Thanks.

As this thread is only about marine fish compatibility, I would suggest starting your own thread in New to the Hobby where it will get a lot of assistance.

Hi,
I have a 60 gallon DT, 26 gallon sump w/ skimmer & refugium, and approximately 60 lbs of live rock. I currently have 3 black axil chromis, 1 red banded hi fin goby, 1 pistol shrimp, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, and assorted snails. Looking to add:

Helfrich firefish
Hooded fairy wrasse OR blue flasher wrasse OR filamented flasher wrasse
Midas Benny

Thoughts?

That plan should work; the flasher wrasse is preferred of the optional three

Either flasher wrasse? Or is one better than the other?

All flasher wrasses are behaviorally the same except the Red Sea Eight Line Flasher wrasse which is aggressive.

180 gallon (6’ x 2’ x 2’) tank with 200 lbs live rock and 75 gallon sump. Planning on some softies and LPS corals, but am more interested in fish. Current stocking wish list:

Foxface Lo
Harlequin Tusk
Ocellaris Clownfish x 2
Copperband Butterflyfish
Dwarf Zebra Lionfish
Large Angel (looking at blue face and regal right now) - flame angelfish if no large angels will work
Red Sea (Desjardinii) Sailfin Tang
Blue Hippo Tang
Green Mandarin (after a year)

Any compatibility issues/replacement suggestions for more color, diversity, or personality would be greatly appreciated!

I don't want to upset the tang police, would a yellow tang thrive in a 110? (5' tank)

Also, how about a bicolor foxface?

So far I have:

Black Ocellaris
Coral Beauty
2 Cardinals
Yellow Spot Goby

Would like to also add:
Yellow Tang/Bicolor Foxface (??)
Vrolik's Wrasse
Ruby Red Scooter (once my pod population increases significantly)--- will a scooter be outcompeted by a vrolik's?

Thankyou!!!
