thanks for the info As for my Firefish, they are bonded. They never leave each others side, and also live in the same hole in my live rock. The bigger one is very protective of the smaller one. For example, the big one comes out of there hole first and checks out the surroundings. Then the big one goes back to get the smaller one. Happens every morning like clockwork, they have been a great edition to my tank. I understand about the recommendations, so I will post up what im considering for my next fishy.

Have you had them longer than 4 months? Once you pass the six month mark, you should be fine. Until then the odds are against.

I have a Zoster Butterflyfish (Hemitaurichthys zoster) and would like to add a Schooling Bannerfish (Heniochus diphreutes). Both black and white and similar shape except for the elongated dorsal on the Bannerfish. Will this work? This is in a 120g. Thanks!!

What other fish? I have seen them be semi-aggressive towards similar fish.

Able to add a sexy shrimp?

Hi

I have a 100g tank with
- 4 blue green chromis
- 2 ocellaris clownfish
- 1 diamond watchman goby
- 1 azure damsel
- 1 royal gramma
- 1 bicolor angel
- 1 valentini puffer
- 1 rollands damsel
- 1 yellow wrasse
- 2 fire shrimp
- 1 peppermint shrimp
- multiple BTA's and 2 LTA's

Would it be safe to add one or more sexy shrimp?

Thanks in advance

The fish list looks reasonable behaviorally; no fish are non-reef safe

Would it be safe to add one or more sexy shrimp? IMO, no. The valentini puffer would contraindicate that.

Thanks in advance

My plan to buy a 120 gallon is out for a couple more years. I recently bought an established 55 gallon FOWLR setup with ten fish. The tank has plenty of live rock, about 2" of sand, two small power heads and a HOB filter.

I was hoping you could give me some insight into how the fish will fare and interact with each other in this sized tank, long term. They are the following:

Matted Filefish (Acreichthys tomentosus) x1 approx. 3-4"
Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) x1 approx. 3"
Oscellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris ) x2 approx. 1.5" and 2"
Clarki's Clownfish (Amphiprion clarkii) x1 approx. 3"
Pajama Cardinals (Sphaeramia nematoptera) x2 1 full sized (?) and 1 80% the siae of the larger
Neon Dottyback (Pseudochromis aldabraensis) x1 approx. 3"
Purple Stripe Dottyback (Pseudochromis diadema) x1 approx. 2"
A single Astraea snail and nine small hermits (Zebra, Scarlet and an unknown species)

The Purple Stripe Dottyback seems to protect her favorite rock from the smaller Cardinal and the larger Pajama Cardinal also seems to bully the smaller cardinal. The File Fish occasionally charges the fire fish or the cardinals. Is this behavior going to be detrimental to these two peaceful fish?

Do you think this tank is at, above or below it's limit for fish. I'm wondering if I could add a few small, peaceful fish like shrimp gobies or dart fish.

Thanks in advance, Steve, much appreciated.

Do not add fish; behavioral as well as bioload problems

They are designer clownfish of two different species wherein the physical appearance (phenotype) is different than wild caught clownfish. They will not work together.

Two of the same species (genotype) will work no matter what their physical appearance (phenotype) is

This thread is only about marine fish compatibility. As such I do not provide hardware related recommendations.

I have a Ocellaris Clownfish who used to have a partner, but the partner saw fit to go over the side of the overflow. I am thinking of giving her (the remaining clown was the larger, so I think female) a new partner. Should I worry about aggressiveness?

If you pick a tiny one of the same species, it should work fine.

Since I cannot go backwards in this thread, it is always best (easiest for me) to provide entire stocking list with the question. Of those mentioned, the yellow tang is likely to be problematic.

Yellow tang last and ideally concurrent with the kole tang. Otherwise, fine.
