Hi Steve,
I posted a list here before but decided to go with fish that are reef compatible (kind of). Ive removed a puffer and butterfly from original list. Anyway, here is the new list: Setup: 100 gallon with 30 gallon sump 1st batch in QT (~June) - Court Jester Goby (to assist CUC) - Royal Gramma - Blue sided fairy wrasse - PJ Cardinal (however, this guy will stay in my QT following bnumair's advise per the Guide to QT thread) 2nd batch in QT (~Sept-Oct) - Dispar Anthias (1 or 3 or 5) 3rd batch in QT (~Nov-Dec) - 2 clownfish with anemone (may wait longer if I don't feel tank has matured enough. At this point, it would've been running for 7-8 months) 4th/5th batch in QT (2016 - the most aggressive fish Im planning on) - Kole Tang - Flame Angel - Coral Beauty Im going to take a gamble with these last two considering ill likely have corals by the time they join my tank. Per other threads here, its a 50-50 shot? But i really like these two fish. With 3 Anthias, I think this puts me ~40 inches of fish. Too much? If so, ill go with 1 Anthias. If i can add more, ill go with 5 Anthias. Thanks Again! |

Thanks Steve!
As for the Anthias question, is 1 preferable because of my tank size (100 gallon) or because they are tough to keep and I should wait while I'm more experienced? Either way, ill go with one. Im just curious. |

think i might pick up a flame or coral beauty, cerube instead of the kole tang. i know they aren't reef safe all the time, can you recommend witch is the most reef safe or is it hit or miss. i hear if there well feed and corals are healthy they do better. should i also wait till my tank matures a little so they have more food to pick at also can dwafts live in the same tank or will they fight |

Actually, I don't consider anyone a pain. Some people I can help, others not. I try to figure out which is what.

Cool. What corals do you recommend? I've been told that valentini puffers are not as destructive as say, dogface puffers but nor are they model citizens of a reef aquarium. So I'm thinking: ????
This is the tank: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...m?pcatid=21183 I really don't want to make any upgrades/additions to the tank system immediately(besides a skimmer and heater). What corals would go well with it considering the light and flow limitations of the tank? On a side note, I really like marine plants but I'm afraid their time would be short with an omnivorous puffer on the lose, lol. |

1st post. 1st reef tank.
Hi everyone. I have a 90g cycling....just started 2nd week. It's 36x24x24 reef ready with 30 gallon sump underneath with Skimmer, refugium and good amount of live rock. Orbit marine pro led. One power head. Also sand bed but only 2-3 inches. I'm looking for suggestions for my first fish. I'm open to all suggestions but would like to lean towards some that can hang with me as I prove I can maintain consistent parameters. Also what beginning cleanup crew and when to add. Thank you all so much, I'm very excited about my new addiction.

Thanks, Steve. Yes, let me apologize for a seemingly vague request. I've certainly been researching nonstop since purchasing my setup, but to be honest it's been mostly about cycling, chemistry, my equipment and how to maximize its use etc. I didn't want to put the cart (fish) before the horse with my studying. But I certainly have some fish in mind. I can elaborate as we go forward, but I envision paired clowns (variety tbd but would love input as well. I've red a few articles on pairing techniques), blue tang, fox face, wrasse (variety tbd), yellow tang? Then a cleanup crew....which opens other questions about which and how many for my setup. And when to add. I'm sure I have several more weeks at least before anything will happen with stocking...just continuing my info gathering. Thanks to you and any others for your input.
