It was a stock RR Perfecto tank, that I modded. No Powerheads.
Scrapped the Durso overflow that came with the tank, and made it a Herbie, returns thru the back, CL thru the floor. Tank thread Here. |

Flow is three Darts. One as a return (maybe getting only 1800-2000gph), and two as closed loops (3000gph each?).

i wish i had a minimalist tank. If it were up to me, id take out 15 pounds of live rock but my dad likes having a hiding place for the cleaner shrimp and fish. Id post a pic but this is the wrong thread for it =)

Not sure if this is "minimalist" but it's not really a lot of rock, just a few big flat pieces. It's mostly held up by PVC covered in rubble.
This was taken just after it got filled with water. Sorry for the fuzzy reflection. There's no livestock. Yet! |

Hey Everyone,
So, with all of the inspiration from this thread (and a few others), we decided to do a dry run with the rocks in my just recently torn down 92 corner. Of course I cannot take all of the credit, as my wife was the principle architect. This happens to be one time where the photos cannot catch the complete essence, partly because of color/contrast, and partly because I cannot give you a full view. Please let me know what you think. Some time ago, I tried to understand what makes a layout work or not and I had compiled some ideas. After reading André's article, I decided to put my ideas in a blog.
(BTW André, amazing rockscape!) http://reef-aquascaping.blogspot.com/ It includes tips for rockwork, colours, proportions, corals, fish and more. |
