I think I am in for a cycle of hair algae, I can feel it in my bones.
I can also see the tiny start of an invasion and it is about due.
It's been a few years since I have seen any and I know what it looks like when it starts.
Ahh the anticipation of a new thing happening, , new experiments, new challanges, Well, OK old challanges.
I think the fish even know something is about to change because they are spawning like crazy, even two old hermit crabs are spawning.
These cycles are normal, healthy and just make the hobby interesting.
Of course it may not happen but I can tell when something is is the works

The tank has had some horrendous hair algae bouts in the past and it seems the corals always look better when that happens.
Hair algae is a great water conditioner as long as it does not shade any corals.

Look at this old picture from the eightees or ninetees. Hair algae looks like a lettuce farm.
I love this hobby

Actually it must be about 15 years ago because I still have that fireclown

I love the way you don't care about such things, you really made me re-think my system, and one thing I just don't care about any more is algal outbreaks - as long as it doesn't become unsightly so I'm not quite in your confort zone as of yet ;-0

p.s.: I've fed my fish 5 times already today, they look fat, very fat :-)

I agree, conorwynne. I chuckle at the bryopsis bushes now. I prune them when I have my hands in the tank, which is about every other month. I also looked at the general fuzz on the rocks as an opportunity to house a foxface. Now that he's accustomed to the tank, he's beginning to browse. I'd be shocked if he actually got ahead of the vegetation growth!

The rock is getting a darker color and has a very short growth on it.

I love the way you don't care about such things,
It's a hobby and by defination, not important.

I can always throw the entire thing out and it would not affect the world economy, global warming, my marriage or the color of Paris Hiltons dog collar

It has happened many times before and it will happen again.
It is what makes this hobby interesting

I am having fun with this and most everything else I do so it is what it is

Something else is spawning in my tank and I don't even know ahat it is.
Look at the worm tube or whatever it is sticking out of the top left of this coral. You can barely see the eggs coming out. It expelled dozens of them today

I guess so, and whatever that thing is, it disappeared back into the coral after it finished with the egg thing.
It had two tentacles like a snail but I think it is some sort of worm

I also found this slug at night on the glass.

It must be a full moon, It's almost 2" long

All 5 of them are doing great. I love those little suckers. They don't swim in the front much and tend to sit around most of the time under a rock. Kind of like a lot of RC Members

I feed the tank new born brine every day which is their main diet but they do get live black worms every other day or so

Did you say you took them from FW to full salt in 3 hours? I was thinking it would take much longer. Thanks Paul, I love your tank

Capn, those eggs are tiny and there are so many worms in my tank that I have no idea what hatched from what.
I do know that that urchin stole that coral again and carried it to the back of the tank, where it is dark. I will have to go searching for it when the lights come on, I hope this doesen't become a re aquascaping job again

I am not turning on the TV in this room anymore, I think that urchin watches too much CSI
