annnd it's here! and it's gorgeous! and i love it the rock is absolutely amazing, but i'm so bad at taking pictures... need a new camera/lens/something. we'll see. there is definitely something making popping noises in there, i wonder what it could be!!!

also, i have two urchins, one of which likes to hang out on the top of the tank, i hope he isn't unhappy. also got what seems to be a red minthrax crab and at least 3 other crabs, with 2 being porcelains (they are tiny and like to hide so i couldn't get a pic of them) yeah, this stuff is incredible. i've been staring at this thing for hours with my friends :P there's so many feather dusters and barnackes and other tentacles and stuph

Naughty , You gotta be the most patient person I know. Which is a good thing. I figured you had that tank fully stocked by now.
The rock looks great, full of life. That popping is probably a pistol ar mantis shrimp.

cool tank, is your heater fully submerged in the back? There is a water line on the jager heaters if it is above there is possibility of failure.

:P

yeah... it's not completely in there because i haven't removed the false floor in the third chamber, but it is a little bit above the water line, however i read in a thread somewhere that they are fully submersible and state that they aren't due to some regulations or something, i'm not too worried about it

welcome to the poor kids in college reef enthusiast club.

if i may...

1. do your research before buying anything...
2. don't skimp on equipment...ever
3. patience
4. learn some breathing exercises for when your friends get tanked and decide they want to pet "nemo"

Looks good, but from personal experience I would say to move the rocks away from the sides of the glass so that the magfloat can fit in there and clean. Once you start getting algae and or coralline algae you will wish you could scrape them off.

Also the popping is most likely a pistol shrimp.

Might be good practice to store mag float outside of tank and just put it on when you want to clean. Some aren't sealed very well and obviously magnet can rust if water gets in there. It'll destroy everything. Just a heads up. Just heard an instance of this through LFS, guy couldn't figure out what was wrong till it was too late.

Congrats on the rock! Looks great!

i think the little green sticks are a calcium based macro algae.

They can potentially grow out of hand.

I leave my mag floats in my tanks. People give grief when you can see them, but I just keep mine in one of the top rear corners. Once they crust over with coralline they're pretty hard to casually notice.

haha I know a lot of people leave em in. I don't even mind seeing them there. Could have been defective, could have just got old...just have heard 2 instances of this now. Thats enough for me. Just passing it on.

thanks!!!
i'm loving it so far.... i'm supposed to change the water when the ammonia goes above 1 ppm, but mine hasn't so far, so i feel like i'm not really doing anything to the tank... i feel like it needs a water change soon though either way...
