Both pumps feed the tank or you have one on monifold?

Exactly why I'm having a buddy (Electrician) come over in next week or so to come check things out and see what we can do. Looking at it tonight looks like I know a way to fish the electrical wires down to the basement so I can get a few dedicated circuits downstairs. Still have not decided on what yet but think I might have him run two large gauge and high amperage circuits from my main and then have a separate breaker box in basement where I can more easily separate things and have as many circuits as I need.

Return Pumps <- Skimmer Section <- Drains from fuge/frag tank and eventually DT

I'm just having a hard time figuring out the plumbing configs in relation to the two ReeFlo pumps which is effecting the water levels I want to have in the sump sections....

In my head I'm planning on having both my pumps feed into one main 2" line which splits off to manifold/frag tank/DT and then gravity will do the rest of the work on getting it to the sump drain section...

I think you were asking David this but would share mine too I've not seen a lot of pics of David's plumbing but know his DT is on first floor and has a descent amount of space in basement for filtration....

Headed to PA for picking up a descent order tomorrow! Awaiting the pumps so I can have a good idea on dimensions and think I'll actually be stacking the pumps in design. Once i have them I'll have the sketchup drawings for sump design this weekend. I PROMISE!

David,
you two pumps connected to the sump and each pump deliver water to DT?
I figure i use one hamerhead golld with monifold to run my DT, frag tank and two media reactors? My concern if one pump would be enough to deliver up to 15 feet from the basement to a first floor( living room)

I deal with Jeremy/Luke mostly so I'm sure I'll see one of the two running around like crazy on any Saturday because PA is so busy I could walk the warehouse for hours if it was open to that and think my wife might leave me afterwards!

My iwaki 100 is going to my DT and it is also running my 33 gallon frag
My iwaki 70 is going to my DT and is running my reactors,
I am pushing around 2000 gph to my DT.
I'm not sure what the specks are on the hamerhead

Santa dropped by with some of my presents today!

Now to getting the 90 gallon fuge equipped with the live sand and sugar sized sand. I'll report back when done!

Just for reference HammerHead Gold Specs are 5500 GPH with no head pressure. At 4' you're talking 5200 GPH and at 13' your down to 3800 GPH. I hope the ReeFlows are great. I've not even opened the box yet

Sand Rinsing....

After about two hours of rinsing 120 pounds of sand I think I've at least cut down on some of the cloudiness.

I'm trying to document everything I do along the process so RCers can gain/comment but below is how I rinsed the sand.

Only things I used were:
  1. Colander
  2. Bowl
  3. Sink
  4. 2 Old White T-shirts Rinsed Beforehand

Bowl/Colander. Weekend is wife's two twelves so making use of this free time

In sink I flip bowl upside down, then place the colander on top with the 2 white t-shirts to serve as my 'filter sock'.

Three stages are below; 1) Sand from bag in bucket, 2) Sink rinsing with colander/shirts, and 3) bucket for rinsed sand.

Rinsing:

Rinsed sand:

I'd recommend leveling out the 'rinsed sand' and letting it sit for a bit. Any water left over is from tap so I wanted as much as of it out as possible so I'd let sit and dump any water that surfaced every few minutes. Once the sand is relatively dry I started moving it to my first fuge.

In its final resting place with 60-70 pounds of live rock and about 40 gallons of water. Currently mixing up some more SW as I did not anticipate needing any more but need a few more inches since the old 90 was split by previous owner.

I'm about to call it quits for the day after I get the SW to the fuge so I can relax a bit. Tomorrow I'll be playing around with the ReeFlo pumps and plumbing as I got the dimensions at PA of the 2" union ball valves and 1 1/2" union ball valves!

I bought two ReeFlo Hybrid Snapper/Darts:

http://premiumaquatics.com/aquatic-s...ER-HYBRID.html

They don't angle at 90 degrees like others on RC said so I'm having to go different route with plumbing. Bolts on housing only fit in one direction. Only other way I could think of actually making it go at 90 degrees horizontal is to mount the pump sideways? Anyone know if you can do this or not? I don't want to ruin the motor in any way...

I would call Reeflow and ask them, that would be the best bet. never saw anyone mount them sidewaus thought.

Why you decided on Red sea salt?

I liked the numbers and reviews I heard. It's also fairly priced and if I do a 50/50 mix of the two I'll only need to add some Magnesium to water store to get exactly what I want out of it...

I'm planning on contacting ReeFlow/PA tomorrow.

Is it low on MG?... hm.. i would think twice man,, usually you need a lot of MG to add..
I am planning on using ESV salt, everyone i have talk to swears on this salt.

just got back from a local SWAP, talk to a few guys and decided that i am going to run two return pumps..

Specs are not bad on the salt and everyone has a different opinion. I had a poll recently and many use the Red Sea Salt and are more than satisfied. If you're considering just your club you could have a biased opinion?

Here they are:

Going on the low end (1250 and 1360) it'd average 1305 and I'd have to add 1340.7 mL of mag for 175 gallon mix?!

Going on the high numbers (1310 and 1420) it'd average 1365 so I'd have to add 493.9 mL of mag for 175 gallon mix.

Maybe I'll change it up later down the road and maybe I'll lower my expected MAG!

Good call on the two return pumps too. I feel safer that way as you know one will fail at one point. Why have a single point of failure that can easily be eliminated?

Guess that comes from years of selling online. I started my first eBay store selling 4-5 things a day on eBay when I was 15

Set the dogs up on leather couch in office as they aren't normally allowed on it since I've been researching acrylic/pvc all afternoon and trying to nail down design on sump/plumbing. They are much like my wife gets after sitting there for a few minutes at night!
